72. Greiving Zack

Her tears continue to fall from her closed white lashes, she lays on her back as Leo checks her out. Sighing as he stepped back.

"Did she say anything before passing out?"

"Yes, she said Zack." Kin answered Leo.

Another sigh left him, this time it was full of sadness. 

"Two of you stay here and comfort her, the others follow me to the Living room so we can talk." Leo walked out not waiting for a response.

Leo stood at the living room window, looking out over the vast ocean and sky. When he felt their presence and knew they were waiting he began to tell them not looking at either of them.

"You all know Diamond gave each of you her mates blessing even though you haven't become mates yet. This pain she is going through is the third time." taking deep breaths he continues.

"Zack has either died or betrayed Diamond. She is feeling the backlash of their broken bond. Honestly, I hope he's dead because if yet another one of her perspective mates betrayed her. she may never trust another beastman with her heart again. She was always taught that beastmen love and mate for life but here she is experiencing not 1 but 4 perspective mates hurting her." Beast pressure came off Leo in waves as his anger built.

"Should we hunt him down?" Kin asked with a deep bloodthirst.

Leo shook his head no, turning to look at his precious daughter's perspective mates. They each trembled but not from him but from their own anger and need for blood.

"You all shall stay here with Diamond; her brothers and I will haunt him down. Dead or alive when we find him, he'll return dead." After he finished talking Alpha came in through the window.

"We are ready father, mother is with the six that stayed with her, but she is sleeping. brothers have secured her place." Alpha spoke in a solider like tone. 

The next day her father and brothers returned with Zacks body. She broke down sobbing as Frost held her close. They held a simple funeral before putting him to rest. That night she cuddled with his furs as she sang her goodbyes to him as tears ran down her face. The guys didn't push her, they just allowed her to grieve. Gem and Gage stayed close to her while Sora kept watch, the others continued to work on preserving the meat. Cold season will wait for no beast, even as they were sad and watching Diamond break down, they were angry but also glad. They could see how much she loved them; how close she holds them to her heart.

Leo reported that Zack was found killed outside of the wall past Frosts old tribe's settlement. He put up one hell of a fight killing 15 ferals before going down. Alpha confirmed the high number of feral sightings around each area of the wall, leading to the males strengthening the guards. Rune brought back Zacks hide bag where they found the fur of a wild arctic fox, they all agreed that if was probably the reason Zack went out so far. Those foxes are rare and highly sought for their majestic fur, however they are highly intelligent and very fierce. 

Leo told them after looking it over that it was a very old fox who probably didn't put up much of a fight since the fur was intact. When asked why he explained that all animals are born with an elemental root, if they train their body and mind like a beastman would do. they have the chance of gaining their beastman forms, however the process takes so long that most lose hope or go insane. choosing to either end their own lives or have someone else do it.

The day after the funeral, Diamond sent her parents and half of her brothers back to the island. (From her living room, she hasn't left her home since she laid Zack to rest.)
