Shadow couldn't believe it. He had just gotten Amy back, and now he's at the risk of losing her all over again. To a friend and coworker no less.
"What are we going to do?" Sonic said.
Both him and Shadow stood outside the bakery as he needed a smoke break from everything he had just witnessed.
"What do you think I'm trying to think of you idiot!"
"Well think faster!"
Shadow glared at him. "How about you come up with something!" He said as he gave him a shove.
At that moment, the bakery's front doorbell chimed as Amy emerged, greeting them with a smile. "I figured I'd find you two here. What are you two up to?"
"Just taking a smoke break, Rose," Shadow replied with a slight smile.
"I just came out to bother him, like usual," Sonic added casually, trying not to raise any alarms, but Amy sensed that something was amiss. "Are you guys okay? You both seem a bit tense," she observed.
"Yeah, of course," Sonic said, trying to act normal.
"Hmmm are you sure? You know can't lie to me...." She said.
Both Shadow and Sonic were at a loss for words, reluctant to acknowledge the discomfort they felt witnessing the interaction between Amy and Dexter. However, Sonic devised a convenient excuse that didn't require revealing their true emotions. "Well, I guess you're not wrong Ames, things between me and Sal are getting tense. It's kinda stressing."
Of course, Amy believed him. "Oh, do you want to talk about it?" she asked, offering her support.
"Nah, it's fine," Sonic replied dismissively, but a mischievous smirk played on his lips as he glanced at hers. "Although, I have a feeling a kiss would definitely improve my mood."
This earned a giggle from Amy. "That's right, I wasn't able to give you a proper kiss last time huh?"
"Yeah, you still owe me." He teased.
'So much for having all her attention.'
"Don't try forcing her to do anything now, faker," Shadow warned, shooting him a stern glare. "Come on Shads, you know me, I would never. I'm her hero after all." He winked at her making Shadow roll his eyes.
Amy approached the two with a smile. "Hey, how about this? I'll swing by after my shift. It could be a good distraction," she suggested.
The word "distraction" immediately caught Shadow's attention.
"Heh, I like the sound of that. You wouldn't mind if I steal Amy for a bit right, Shads?" Sonic asked playfully, earning a groan of annoyance from Shadow. "Just don't hog her for too long."
"I'll try, but I can't make any promises." He smirked.
"Hehe, don't worry, Shadow," she said, leaning in close. "You know I'll be back with you soon. After all, you're still my "boyfriend"," she teased.
Shadow chuckled softly. "Okay, Rose, but how about I claim my kiss before I go?"
Amy giggled in response. "Of course."
"Hey, what about me?" Sonic interjected.
"You can keep watch," Shadow replied, before gently taking Amy's hand and leading her to their usual spot, where they often shared intimate moments, Amy giggling as they went.
Sonic groaned as they left him.
'I suppose it's only fair, after all, I had her all to myself for that entire time, while they didn't have any contact for a whole month.'
