LACEY'S POV
"OUCH!" Lacey said.
"Sorry," said Nicole. "But if you would stop fidgeting around it wouldn't happen."
"I swear Nicole, if you burn me with that curling iron one more time I'm gonna take it and brand you with it."
"Oh stop complaining. True beauty takes a little bit of pain."
Lacey rolled her eyes. Nicole had that right. She had been burnt enough times in the last hour to last a life time. Sitting in front of the vanity mirror in her room, Lacey began to wonder why she didn't just go ahead and have a proffessional do her hair. Nicole had pleaded with her to let her do her hair, but looking back, Nicole's puppy dog eyes didn't seem to hard to turn down. Looking at Nicole in the mirror, she was already ready for the dance. Her short red dress looked great. Her hair was pinned up and a red lilly was pinned right above her left ear. She looked beautiful. Lacey hoped she looked half as good as Nicole did. Glancing sideways she could see her dress hanging on her closet door. Not able to deny it to herself, she knew that she was excited. She remembered telling Aaron that she found the perfect dress. It was last weekend and they were spending some quality time over at his house. Laying down on the couch in the bsaement they were watching T.V. It just so happened that Aaron's version of quality time meant watching the football game that was on tonight. Lacey didn't really mind, as long as she got to be with him.
Lacey looked up at him. She was laying with her head on a pillow in his lap. He was so into the game that he didn't catch her looking up at him.
"HOLDING! Come on ref! That was such a bogus call. Did you see that Lace?" he asked not looking at her.
"Uh huh," she said not even bothering to look at the tv. He must have heard something in her tone, because he looked down at her.
"What?"
"Nothing." she said still looking into his blue eyes.
He reached for the remote and clicked the tv off. Setting down the remote he turned his attention back to her. He started playing with her hair. "I know you wanna talk about something. You might as well spill it."
"Not really."
"Ok," he said rolling his eyes. "So," Lacey could tell he was groping for a topic. It just so happened that he picked the right one. "how did dress shopping go yesterday?" he asked.
Lacey felt her face light up and Aaron must have seen it too. "I found the most amazing dress EVER! I'm serious Aaron. It's beautiful."
Her excitement must have been funny, because Aaron broke out into a laugh. Lacey caught herself smiling. The sound of his laugh was just so warm. Lacey could feel it warm her all the way to her toes. Knowing that she had just had an outburst she quieted down. Aaron looked down at her still laying in his lap, and brushed a stray hair away from her face. Still smiling he said, "I'm glad you had a good time. So what color is the dress so that I can get my vest and tie to match?"
Lacey hadn't thought of that. "It lime green. Like a bright lime green."
Aaron gave her a quizzical look. "Really? Lime green? I can't picture you in a lime green dress?"
Lacey felt herself frown. "Do you not like it? Cuz I can always go back and get a different dress. I have the reciept and--" When she had found the dress the last thing on her mind was whether Arron was going to like the color or not. It made her look beautiful and that was the most important thing on her mind. She hated to have to take it back but she would for Aaron.
"No! No. That's not it at all. I'm happy with whatever dress makes you happy. Heck, if you wanted to go in our basketball uniforms I'd be happy."
Lacey let out a smile. "Really? You'd go in our uniforms?"
