"𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞," Lockwood said as he watched his partner pace up and down the room from where he was sitting at the desk. She'd been pacing silently for the past ten minutes, trying to remember anything. "If our parents hadn't died we could have grown up together."

Carolynne hummed absent-mindedly, not really paying much attention, "yeah."

"My parents must have already died, otherwise you would have moved to live with us."

"But that makes no sense," Carolynne finally stood still on the side of the desk next to him, "if your parents died first you and Jessica would have moved here. Wait..."

Carolynne paused as she stared straight through him.

Lockwood tilted his head as he watched her, the idea creeping hesitantly into his mind, "are you..."

"Ant..."

"You don't think they died together, do you?"

Lockwood watched as her eyes focused on the floor trying to remember something.

"Oh my-" Carolynne muttered as she covered her mouth with her hand and battled against her watery eyes, "I remember the police at the door." Lockwood pulled her gently to sit sideways in his lap as she kept talking, reliving the memory. "It was so bad Ant, they said they had to re-tarmac a section of the road."
