"Never had someone to show me a love like this before"- Inspired by Love like this by Faith Evans
The warm Mediterranean breeze caressed my skin as I sat at the elegant outdoor terrace of a bustling restaurant in Cannes, surrounded by the laughter and chatter of my friends. Despite the lively atmosphere, my thoughts drifted to the one person who wasn't there with us tonight – Charles.
Charles, with his charming smile and eyes that sparkled like the sea at sunrise, had stolen my heart from the moment we met. But distance had become our unwanted companion since he lived in Monaco, just a stone's throw away yet still so far.
As the evening progressed and the wine flowed freely, my friends, Sophie and Mia, grew increasingly mischievous. With every refill of our glasses, their giggles became more infectious, and their suggestions more daring.
"You know what you should do?" Sophie slurred, her cheeks flushed from the wine. "You should surprise Charles tonight! Show up at his doorstep and sweep him off his feet!"
Mia nodded enthusiastically, her curls bouncing with excitement. "Yes! It's only a short ride away. You could be there in no time!"
I laughed, the idea sounding both thrilling and absurd. "But how? It's already late, and we've had so much to drink."
Sophie waved her hand dismissively. "Details, details. We'll figure it out! You can't let a little thing like logistics stand in the way of romance!"
Before I knew it, they had convinced me. Fuelled by liquid courage and the intoxicating allure of spontaneity, I found myself agreeing to their wild plan.
"You can take a helicopter!" Sophie continued, pulling out her phone. "It is like 15 minutes, you'll be there in no time!"
With a sense of exhilaration coursing through me, I pulled Sophie's phone away to make the necessary arrangements. Moments later, I returned with a mischievous grin plastered across my face.
"It's all set," I announced, barely able to contain my excitement. "I'm going to Monaco tonight!"
As Sophie and Mia bid me farewell with excitement, I stepped into the helicopter alone, feeling a mixture of nerves and anticipation swirling within me. The pilot greeted me with a warm smile as I settled into my seat, offering me a glass of champagne to celebrate the impromptu adventure.
Normally, I would have declined, mindful of the effects of alcohol, especially after that much wine earlier on. But tonight, with my heart pounding and butterflies dancing in my stomach, I found myself reaching for the glass, needing something to steady my nerves.
The bubbles tickled my nose as I took a sip, the familiar taste of champagne offering a fleeting sense of comfort amidst the uncertainty of the night ahead. With each sip, the edges of my anxiety began to soften, replaced by a growing sense of exhilaration.
As the helicopter soared through the night sky, I gazed out at the twinkling lights below, feeling a sense of freedom unlike anything I had ever experienced before. In that moment, suspended between earth and sky, I felt alive in a way I had never felt before.
As we neared Monaco, the anticipation built within me, each passing minute bringing me closer to Charles and the promise of our reunion. With each sip of champagne, my nerves melted away, replaced by a newfound confidence and determination.
The helicopter touched down on the helipad, and I felt a surge of excitement course through me. With a grateful smile to the pilot, I stepped out onto the tarmac, the cool night air washing over me like a comforting embrace.
