"Why do you have to look at me like that?"

The pulsing bass of the club throbbed through my veins, I settled into the booth, Oscar sliding in beside me. Our friends crowded around, the familiar faces a welcome sight after weeks of missing each other. Oscar had been wrapped up in the whirlwind of his F1 career, leaving little time for our usual hangouts.

"You've been avoiding us, Oscar," I teased, nudging his shoulder as I greeted him with a grin.

He chuckled, running a hand through his dark curls. "Hey, blame the racing circuit, not me. It's been non-stop."

I rolled my eyes playfully. "Sure, blame it on the cars."

We fell into easy banter, catching up on the mundane details of life that we'd missed in each other's absence. But inevitably, talk turned to Oscar's newfound fame.

"So, how many girls have thrown themselves at you this week?" I teased, nudging him again with a smirk.

Oscar laughed, shaking his head. "You know it's not like that."

I raised an eyebrow, pretending to be scandalized. "Oh, come on, don't tell me you're immune to the charms of women because they are fans."

He leaned in conspiratorially, his breath warm against my ear. "None of them hold a candle to you, you know."

I felt a flush creep up my neck at his words, grateful for the dim lighting that hid my blush. Our friendship had always been peppered with flirtation, but tonight it felt charged with something more.

Our friends, ever the observers of our dynamic, couldn't help but comment.

"You two are like an old married couple," Ciara remarked with a smirk.

Oscar and I exchanged amused glances, a silent understanding passing between us. We were comfortable in each other's presence, our easy rapport often mistaken for something deeper.

"Nah, we're just friends," Oscar replied, his tone light but his eyes lingering on mine for a moment too long.

I laughed, reaching out to playfully swat his arm.

"Yeah, just friends who can't keep their hands off each other." Paolo added.

"Yeah, not doing that," Oscar interrupted, "let's go outside."

Outside the club, the city lights painted a kaleidoscope of colors against the night sky. The air was cool against my skin, a welcome reprieve from the heat and noise of the club. As Oscar and I walked side by side, the rhythm of our footsteps echoed in the empty street, a steady beat to accompany the weight of unspoken words between us.

"So, what's been on your mind lately?" Oscar asked, his voice breaking the silence that had settled between us.

I sighed, unsure of where to begin. There were so many thoughts swirling in my head, so many uncertainties and fears that I had been grappling with in the quiet moments when sleep eluded me.

"I don't know, just...life, I guess," I replied, my words feeling inadequate to capture the weight of the existential crisis that had been looming over me lately.

Oscar nodded, his expression thoughtful as he listened intently.

"It's like...I feel like I'm stuck in this never-ending cycle, you know?" I continued, my voice tinged with frustration. "Like I'm just going through the motions, but I don't really know what I'm working towards anymore."

He glanced at me, his eyes soft with understanding. "I get that. It's easy to feel lost in the chaos of it all."

I nodded, grateful for his empathy. "Yeah, exactly. I mean, what's the point of it all? What are we even chasing after? I wish I had my goals as clear as you."
