The pulsating energy of the Las Vegas Grand Prix surrounded me as I stepped into the vibrant world of the paddock. My heart raced with excitement, not just because of the roaring engines and the scent of burning rubber, but because I was here with Max Verstappen—the guy who revved up my world in more ways than one.

Max and I had been through the whirlwind of romance, navigating the complexities of long-distance love. My schedule was jam-packed with university, extracurriculars, and endless responsibilities on my job. Despite the challenges, Max and I managed to make it work, carving out time for late-night video calls and stolen moments of connection.

As I walked through the paddock, the hum of anticipation surrounded me. The neon lights of Las Vegas added a surreal glow to the atmosphere. Max had flown me out for the race, a grand gesture that left my heart fluttering with gratitude and love. It was our own little escape from reality, a chance to revel in the magic of our relationship amidst the speed and glamour of Formula 1.

But as I strolled among the team trailers and pit crews, I couldn't shake the strange looks that seemed to follow me. Whispers trailed behind me like a persistent echo. I glanced around, my brow furrowing in confusion. Was it my imagination, or did people in the paddock seem to be exchanging glances filled with surprise?

On the first day, as the sun dipped below the horizon and the paddock lights flickered to life, I found myself sitting next to Sarah, Max's teammate's wife. The warm glow of friendship enveloped us, and I decided to broach the subject that had been gnawing at me all day.

"Sarah," I began tentatively, "have you noticed anything... weird today? Like, strange looks or something?"

She looked at me, a knowing smile playing on her lips. "Ah, you've picked up on it too, huh?"I nodded, my curiosity piqued. "What's going on? Did I miss something?"

Sarah chuckled, her eyes glinting with mischief. "Well, it seems like the rumor mill has been working overtime. Some people around here think you and Max are... well, not together anymore."

I blinked in surprise, my mind struggling to process the absurdity of the notion. "What? Why would they think that?"

As Sarah spilled the beans, a knot tightened in my stomach. The misinterpretation seemed to hinge on a seemingly innocent event—the day Max had invited a group of people to the garage. It wasn't uncommon; Max often gathered his mates to share the racing experience firsthand. However, this time, there was a twist—an unfamiliar girl had joined the group, and that raised eyebrows in the paddock.

I listened intently as Sarah explained, "They saw Max with a bunch of people in the garage, and you weren't with them. They assumed the worst, thinking that maybe you two had called it quits."

A wave of understanding washed over me. I vividly remembered that day. Max had playfully teased me about not wanting to witness the chaos in the garage, and I had opted to explore the vibrant energy of the paddock instead. Little did I know that my absence would spark rumors and misconceptions.

Determined to clear the air, I made my way towards the garage, my heart pounding in my chest. As I approached, the sounds of revving engines and mechanical whirring intensified. The vibrant energy of the paddock surrounded me, but a subtle tension lingered in the air as I entered the bustling garage.

I spotted Max among his mates, engrossed in animated conversations. My eyes scanned the group until they landed on the unfamiliar girl. She was chatting with Max, a casual smile playing on her lips. Their camaraderie was evident, and it struck me as odd. Max, usually easygoing, appeared somewhat uncomfortable when he noticed my presence.
