"Es un secreto"- by Plan B
As I stood in front of the mirror, adjusting the strap of my dress, my heart raced with excitement. Tonight was a special night - not just because Lando and Oscar had both clinched their first podiums of the season, but also because it marked my first official outing as a member of the McLaren F1 team.
"Can you believe it, Mia?" I turned to my friend, Mia, who was rummaging through my makeup bag. "Our boys did it! First podiums of the season!"
Mia grinned, her eyes sparkling with pride. "I know, right? They totally killed it out there! Tonight's going to be epic."
I couldn't help but feel a surge of nerves mixed with anticipation. It was my first time stepping out as part of the McLaren team, and the thought of celebrating with everyone sent butterflies swirling in my stomach.
Mia must have sensed my jitters because she paused, turning to me with a reassuring smile.
"Hey, don't worry. You're going to fit right in. Plus, it's not like everyone from the team will be there. Mostly just the drivers and a few others."
Her words eased some of my nerves, and I nodded, taking a deep breath to steady myself. "Right. Just the drivers..."
Before I could dwell on it further, there was a sharp knock on the door, pulling me out of my thoughts. Mia shot me an excited look before hurrying to answer it.
"Hey, Lily!" Mia's voice carried through the room as she greeted Lily, Oscar's girlfriend, who had come to pick us up.
Lily stepped into the room, her smile radiant as she took in our outfits. "You two look gorgeous! Ready to party?"
I returned her smile, feeling a surge of gratitude for her warmth and friendliness. "Definitely. Let's make tonight one to remember."
As we made our way out of the hotel room and towards Lily's car, I couldn't shake the feeling of excitement coursing through me.
As we settled into the car, the excitement bubbling inside me threatened to burst at any moment. But as Mia and Lily began to recount their past experiences with team outings, I couldn't help but feel a sense of deflation creeping in.
"So, what's the plan for tonight?" Lily asked, glancing at Mia in the rearview mirror.
Mia shrugged, her expression turning slightly skeptical. "Same old, same old, I guess. We'll probably end up in the VIP section or near the bar. Maybe mingle a bit, but honestly, don't get your hopes up too much. These things tend to be pretty dull."
"Dull?" I echoed, disbelief coloring my tone. "But it's a celebration! How can it be dull?"
Lily chuckled, a knowing look in her eyes. "Trust me, after a few of these, you'll see. It's mostly just sitting around, chatting with the same people, maybe a toast or two. Nothing too exciting."
My heart sank at the thought of spending the night sitting idly by, especially when all I wanted to do was dance and let loose. "But... what about dancing? Don't people dance at these things?"
Mia shook her head, her lips quirking into a wry smile. "Not really. Maybe a few people will sway to the music, but it's not like a club or anything. And I wouldn't count on them playing your beloved reggaeton. This is more of a 'rich people place' kind of vibe."
I bit my lip, trying to mask my disappointment. Reggaeton was my go-to genre for letting loose and having fun, and the idea of not being able to dance to it tonight felt like a major letdown.
