Chan and Hongjoong have been on the run together for a long time. During this time, they have grown very close and gotten used to seeing the same face daily. However, in many cases, there are also downsides to having someone with you all the time.

Especially when you are actually there for each other, caring for each other and only wanting the best for the other person.

It all happened a few weeks after Chan and Hongjoong broke out, two months to be precise. They both settled down on the edge of the artificial forest in a small empty farm and planned their next steps to escape.

Back then, neither of them were as well equipped as they are today. Although they were already collecting information about District 9 and the Chips in a very improvised and by no means professional manner, the two were careless and always left a lot of traces behind. The agents and guards were hot on their heels and it felt as if their opponents were always one step ahead of them.

"What are we going to do now?" asked Hongjoong in frustration, resting his neck on the back of the sofa. He then turned his head to Chan, who had his gaze fixed on the unfolded map on the small coffee table. "I... I don't know," the older man mumbled and then ran his hand through his hair, not knowing what to do.

"With the information we have, we still have nothing against J.Y. Park in our hands. We're also running out of resources, Hongjoong I..." Chan couldn't get any further, he was too crushed.

They were aware that it would not be easy to escape with the plan to abolish the KQ chips. But although almost two months had passed since the escape, neither of them had been able to get used to the external circumstances, which was due to their long imprisonment.

Chan and Hongjoong needed more people for their plan, preferably a whole team to get them to their destination. But so far, the only known fugitives were the two of them, so it seemed impossible to form a team.

"It won't be long before District 9 locates our new whereabouts," Chan admitted, leaning his neck on the sofa before turning his face to Hongjoong. Both looked dejectedly into each other's eyes for a moment, hoping to find a solution in each other's gazes.

"Don't laugh at me, okay? I think I have a crazy idea," came out of Hongjoong's mouth after a short silence. "I'll never laugh at you, Joongie. We're best friends, so shoot away," Chan grinned a little more confidently.

"How about we fake our deaths?" Hongjoong now presented.

"Wait what?! You wanted to fake your deaths?" Mingi blurted out, flabbergasted, causing most of the people in the corridor to sigh in annoyance. "Bro, why don't you let them go on talking?" hissed Hyunjin. "Take a lesson from Jeongin, it feels like he's only said three sentences today and nothing more," Jongho added his two cents, eliciting a small giggle from the youngest.

"Anyway, go on," urged Felix and also Seungmin finally wanted to continue listening. "So then it was like this..." Chan began.

"Fake our deaths? How do you imagine that?" Chan questioned the idea, not because he thought it was bad. He thought it was a good one.

"Let's say we take our most important things, set the farm on fire and leave. If they think we've perished, we can settle down somewhere where no one can bother us. There's no point in looking for dead men, we'll just go underground for a while and see what happens. What do you think, Channie?" asked Hongjoong, deliberately emphasizing Chan's name more sweetly, as he assumed that the older man would label him completely crazy after revealing the plan.
