28. September 2143, Saturday

At the same time in the basement of the main building, San, Yeosang and Jeongin were at work.

A few minutes earlier, they had set off a smoke bomb in the reception area to trigger the fire alarm. This would give the other teams more time for their mission and also ensure that all employees left the building before they blew it up.

The bomb was only supposed to create a little smoke. However, San had probably slightly underestimated the explosive material, which caused the whole building to shake. But the bomb had served its purpose and now they were hastily placing the remaining bombs in the cellar. They placed the bombs precisely as planned, so that in the end only a single explosive device had to be detonated remotely to set off a chain reaction. They had to concentrate extremely hard, as the flashing red lights and the loud alarm were highly distracting.

"How much longer do we have?" asked San loudly to drown out the sirens. Meanwhile, he carefully attached a charge of C4 to the ceiling next to a support pillar. Yeosang glanced at his wristwatch. "The plan is to blow up the whole building in ten minutes," he admitted. "I hope everyone's out by then..." came uncertainly from San's mouth. "I'm sure they will. If everything goes according to plan, everyone should be out by the time the explosion happens. However, I would also feel more comfortable if our Ear Buds were working down here," Jeongin said, slightly frustrated.

"You know our team, most of the time it's a complete mess," said San skeptically. "Don't worry, they'll be out in time," Yeosang tried to lighten the mood as he continued to work in the meantime.

The other two guerrillas silently continued their preparations until all the explosives had been placed correctly. They checked the plan again with the current position of the bombs and were now ready for the detonation. "Who has the remote control?" Yeosang asked, looking first at San and then at Jeongin. "Not me," came from the youngest. "Me neither. But I thought you packed it, Yeosang. It was on the workbench, next to our backpacks," said San, frowning.

As if by remote control, everyone took off their backpacks and searched the contents for the remote control. "It's not in mine," said San first. "I don't have it either," Yeosang added and Jeongin just shook his head in the negative. Silently, all three looked at each other, their panicked faces drenched in bright red color at regular intervals.

Red, the color of emergency, fear, panic and helplessness. This is exactly how the three of them felt in their current situation.

"This can't be true," San muttered, biting his lower lip thoughtfully. They had prepared everything well, there was no room for mistakes on such an important mission. And yet they forgot the most important thing: The shitty remote control....

Now they absolutely needed a plan B.

"Can we detonate the bombs in another way?" asked Jeongin, looking at the two mechanics expectantly. "We mainly used C4, which is extremely resistant to fire and electricity. Apart from a remote trigger, they only go off in combination with a lot of heat and enormous pressure. We decided on a chain reaction for a reason, because otherwise it would be practically impossible to ignite them," Yeosang explained anxiously.

"What if..." San began, looking at his mechanic buddy seriously. "No," came from Yeosang, who could probably read the other's thoughts. He took a deep breath, while Jeongin looked back and forth between the two of them in confusion. "What if what?" he asked eagerly, as they were behind schedule due to their search for the remote control.
