As Alex pulled into the driveway, she noticed her dad pulled in right behind her. There was relief coming from him as she got out of her car. Then there was a sudden hug from him. Right then, Alex knew something was wrong, but worried what it was. Even though she couldn't help but look up at her father, he assured it wasn't Bobby. But they needed to talk once they got inside.

Worried what it was going to be about, her father assured everything would be fine. He walked toward his study door to unlock it, which was a surprise to Alex since she respected his space. While she watched the doors open, it was like your typical study. Several shelves built into the walls, including bookshelves against the other. Even though he gestured his daughter to follow him in, Alex felt hesitant. Only because of the total respect thing.

Slowly walking in, Alex was soaking everything in because it was nice in there. There were several piles of books on the desk with some picture frames, which she knew who those photos were. Alex wasn't too surprised by the books that were lying around. Her father had a huge fascination with mythology and history, even she did as well. It was one of the greatest father-daughter relationship they had. However, she missed it ever since her mother died, though.

As her father desperately searched for something in his desk drawers, Alex couldn't help but look through a book on his desk. Even though he only glanced up, nothing was said. Seconds turned to minutes when it seemed he found something. It looked like a journal, as his daughter looked up at him.

"Dad? What did you want to talk about?"

"Kind of difficult to explain, but you always wondered where I would disappear a few days at a time?"

"Kind of, but I never wanted to intrude."

Gesturing her over toward him, Alex walked over as he slid over his chair for her. Then he handed his daughter the journal. It was leather-bound and thick. She was unsure what to do with it, but her father had her open it. With each page, it contained everything that dealt with folklore from all around the world. Unsure what to say, her father sat on the desk and explained.

"I know you can be very open-minded, Alex. But in this world, we aren't alone. Whenever I hadn't traveled to work, I always went hunting. Even though these creatures never show their true form, but they use people as vessels to keep themselves hidden. Actually, that's not completely true. Only a few that don't keep themselves hidden, but the majority do. There's something going on here again in Sioux Falls."

"What do you mean?"

The concerned look on his face told Alex the answer.

"Mom?" she asked.

"It looks like it, sweetheart. From that day, I could tell you knew something wasn't right, but whatever it is, it's back. But you're not the only one thought this. So did Bobby and myself. I-I didn't know how to talk to you about it."

He feared this had shutdown his daughter and most likely hated him over this hidden job. However, he was wrong. While she was hurt by the secret, but everything made sense. But she had a question for him, as she hoped it wasn't a lie.

"What about your career as an archaeologist, dad?"

There was silence for a while, but James was truthful with her. He could tell there was relief from this, but he knew this was a lot for her to handle. She continued to look through the journal as her father filled her with everything. From how Bobby is also a hunter, and the sudden news about having an extended family. He even came clean that even though her mother knew about hunters and everything else, she rarely worked as one. "She only stayed away from much of it because she had a lot of trust issues when it came to looking out for you," he added.

"So mom helped?"

"Sometimes, but over the phone. I know, it might've felt like I was away a lot, Alex. Even though I was between excavation projects and hunting, but I did that to protect you and your mom. You also know I've always made it up to you when I came home. Don't be afraid to ask or say anything, hon. You know I can answer as much as I can."

"So even keeping this from me, you were also protecting me? Even want me to have a normal life, even though I'm also a witch?"

"Yeah. Ever since you were growing up, I always feared you would end up unintentionally coming across hunters, hon. I managed to trust your mom once I found out about her, but we can co-exist. However, not all are friendly, Alex."

"I know there are hunters out there, dad. I mean, I could smell them out, bascially. But-"

"You knew I was one as well," he finished.

"It is understandable if you didn't want to tell me that you're one, as well. Just surprised mom even trusted you."

"Same here, hon. Yet, it did take a while after she saved my ass. Just so you know, Bobby is one, too. I do apologize for keeping this from you, Alex. Part of the reason why I wanted to spend more time with you, since I had a feeling you couldn't be alone. Especially after what happened to your mother."

This was the first time since her mother's death he was this terrified. Tears fell down her cheek as her father quickly wiped them away. He always hated to see his little girl cry. Not realizing the time, James had gotten dinner started while he allowed Alex to go through everything in his study. He knew it would give her something to do and explained they were going to head over to Bobby's to meet Sam and Dean. While Alex admitted she was a little nervous, but there was assurance from her father that he was as well.

As her father left and headed into the kitchen, Alex got to know more about the whole hunting business, even though she understood the risks. She was a bit surprised that her dad's a hunter. There were so many questions to be answered, even though they would be eventually. But she did trust her dad. One of the things she was even more interested in was how her folks met. As Alex walked around the room, this was going to take her a while to get used to. Her dad being the type who would hunt monsters and worried he even hunted witches as well.

From what she remembered growing up, her mom always told her that even though there were witches out there, not all of them would be friendly. Just like hunters as her dad recently mentioned. While she heard dishes moving around, Alex sat at his desk and looked through some of his stuff.
