"Why does school start so early!" Gon whined. Because of the extra classes he had to take and Bisky's insistence that they train for an hour before school, everyone had to get up 2 hours earlier than usual.
"It wouldn't be so bad if you didn't fail." Killua said. The three had already left the apartment and were on their way to the school.
"Let's go over the ground rules while you two go to school." This suggestion from Bisky was mainly a reminder for Gon, as Killua was already overly cautious. "Stick to the story, don't do anything to get into trouble and don't leave the school without me." The last rule was contributed by Bisky, as she did not want her students to leave her alone for several days again.
"That was one time, relax." Killua sighed and put his hands on his head.
"It was one time too many." Bisky huffed, but stopped scolding as they approached the school. "Please don't mess with the rules. I don't want to talk to anyone." Killua waved his hand in the air with his back turned.
"Yah, yah. Stop worrying so much, we'll be fine." Bisky watched the two boys go into the school before heading to work. She wasn't really worried about their safety. She knew that the two boys were more than capable of taking on anyone at the school, but she was worried that the morals of their world would show through in Gon and Killua's speech. Core values are extremely difficult to hide, especially when the two of them do not know what values they hold are wrong in this world. They all lack common sense in this world, and showing that might lead to more questions than wanted.
Gon and Killua entered the staff lounge and were greeted by Aizawa as promised. Aizawa gestured to the two chairs in front of him and motioned for the two boys to sit down. "I didn't expect you to be here, Zoldyk."
"Bisky doesn't have time to take both of us to school, so we have to go together." Aizawa's eyes showed suspicion, but he didn't seem to care enough to ask.
"Anyway," Aizawa turned to Gon, "today we will do a pretest in all core subjects to find out exactly what you are struggling with." Aizawa shuffled the pile of papers in his hands. "You will have 10 minutes to complete as much of each test as possible." Aizawa placed the first test together with a pen in front of Gon. "Your time starts now." Gon immediately began to translate the first question to the best of his ability. For now, that meant writing the word in his written language above the word in Japanese. This method was time consuming and within the 10 minutes Gon could only answer 1-2 questions. Initially, Aizawa had planned to use the after-school session to grade the tests and let Gon go early, but there wasn't much for him to grade, so he scrapped that idea. "So this is the written language you were taught?" Aizawa referred to the small scratches above each word in the question. Gon nodded. "Strange," Aizawa said and continued to examine the writing. "Why did Zoldyk learn the language and not you?"
"My family runs a business where it is advantageous to be able to read documents in other written languages."
"Is that so? What business do they have?"
"They are merchants. I'm the heir to the business, so I need to know how to read many different languages."
"Heir? Those must be big shoes to fill."
"Ehh. Not really." Killua stopped explaining, showing no intention of elaborating further.
"When did you and Freecs start living together?" The supposed study session was starting to turn into an interrogation and it was obvious to Killua that Aizawa already harbored suspicion towards the two.
"After me and Gon stopped going to school."
"And that was how long ago?" Aizawa was staring Killua down, analyzing Killua's every move.
