Sam
I spent hours at the police station trying to get someone to tell me what was happening to Noah. Three hours in and all I got was "he'll be up for bail tomorrow" and to go home.
After leaving the station and heading back to our apartment, I immediately called Ben to plead for him to drop the charges on Noah. I called four times; straight to voicemail, and by my sixth text message to him, I realized he blocked me. I wasn't too surprised though.
"Any luck?" Kaitlyn asked me once I entered the kitchen.
Plopping myself down on the kitchen stool, I sighed in defeat, "Nothing. He blocked my number."
"This fucking sucks," Ciera said, her tone solemn like all of our moods.
"God, what if he ends up in prison or something?" I wondered dreadfully.
"Eh," Ciera shrugged, "Noah can handle himself, probably make everyone his bitch and run the place," she tried making light of the situation, but I was in no mood for jokes. Especially jokes about Noah being in prison.
"Ciera," Kaitlyn scoffed, rolling her eyes before squeezing my shoulder, "he's not going to prison," she assured me. "Get some rest, I'm sure his bail will be posted by tomorrow."
I didn't get much, if any, sleep that night. The morning after, I spent my time refreshing the page that read off the people in our county's jail until finally Noah's was posted. "Three thousand dollars to bail him out?" Kaitlyn questioned me with wide eyes at eight in the morning.
"Unfortunately," I breathed out a tired sigh.
"Shit," Ciera cursed under her breath.
"Fuck me, what do I do? I don't have three thousand dollars in my pocket. I have maybe a thousand in my savings," I whined feeling more stressed out than ever. Stupid, stupid Noah and his anger issues. Why couldn't he just let it go? And stupid Ben for egging him on.
Now I have to come up with three thousand dollars.
I turned to Kaitlyn with pleading eyes; if any one of us was financially well off and could get Noah out, it was her family. "Kaitlyn, I know your parents hate Noah, but maybe-"
Kaitlyn shook her head shamefully, "my parents cut me off."
My eyes went wide and my jaw basically dropped to the floor. "What?! Why?"
With Ciera rubbing Kaitlyn's arm to comfort her, Kaitlyn explained, "I told them about Ciera... daddy wasn't too happy."
"Oh my god," I stood up and wrapped my arms around her. "I'm so sorry."
"That's why I've haven't left this apartment," she continued after our embrace.
"Oh, wow," I was shocked; I knew her dad was harsh, but I never thought he'd do something like that to his baby girl. His only child. "That's crazy, but this is your home," I tell her sincerely, "always."
She nods with a small smile of gratitude. "Okay, no more sob stories, we need to get Noah out. I have close to five hundred in my checking... Only Fans pays well," she confesses sheepishly.
Huh? Again, jaw dropped. Clearly this was all a surprise to me alone because Ciera didn't look taken aback like I was. "Bitch, you have me floored. We're gonna unpack that later," I said because what the hell? I've been way too involved in my love life. I turned to Ciera, "Anything?" I asked hopefully.
"Uh..." she shrugged "I have about twelve?" She offered.
I gasped in excitement, "Hundred?!"
That would be fantastic if she didn't burst my hopeful bubble, "Dollars. Twelve dollars... if my account isn't overdraft again," she said, rubbing the back of her neck.
