That was fine, she didn't have to love him anymore.
It'd make this all so much easier.
Rafe slowly slid his index finger over the smooth, black gun barrel. A new gun, one bought from a shady pogue gun store owner who didn't care that Rafe was just released from prison. If you had enough money, nobody enforced the two week background check normally required to buy a pistol.
Rafe counted each bullet he put in. Five small, golden pieces of death. He didn't want more, he didn't need more. Honestly, he only needed one.
One Bexley James.
But if given the choice, he wouldn't mind adding JJ Maybank, Pope Heyward, John B Routeledge, or Sarah Cameron to the mix. So he had five bullets, just in case he was able to find them all together.
Kiara got a pass.
One pass, for always being kind to Bexley, no matter what.
Rafe fixed up the gun, flipping the safety on. He placed it securely in his waistband.
Inhaling and exhaling deeply, Rafe leaned back in his seat.
He sat in the driver's seat of his father's truck.
Or...of his truck.
Because nothing belonged to his father anymore.
He was parked down the road from the Heyward house, hidden in some thick trees on the side of it. He kept himself facing the road, and he kept himself ready.
It was noon, and he'd gotten to the spot about twenty minutes ago.
He took a swing of his beer, the other three he drank empty on the floor in the back.
He'd recognize John B's van if it passed.
He'd recognize Bexley's car if it passed.
He'd recognize Pope's car if it passed.
He was sure of it.
He was willing to stay here all day, they wouldn't pass without him noticing.
So all he did was sit, and wait.
He just kept telling himself over and over, that by the end of the night, he'd be able to breathe without her again.

"Thanks for getting on the road with me so early," Bexley told JJ. "I know you normally don't like getting up before ten, but I appreciate you coming."
"Yeah, sure," JJ yawned loudly, still half asleep. He leaned his head on the window. "No problem. I love nine am wake up calls."

ROCK BOTTOM ~ Rafe Cameron // OC // JJ Maybank
FanfictionJJ's biggest flaw was his recklessness, and his bad ideas. Honestly, that didn't seem that bad to Bexley. Rafe's biggest flaw? Jealousy. Pure, uncontrolled jealousy.
