tw: mentions of violence, slight sexual content
"Look how good I've gotten at this," Rafe said, propping the door open, bringing the plate of food into the bedroom.
Bexley was laying down, covers over her head. That's all she did at the house anymore. Lay in bed. Covering herself. Wishing she could disappear. Wishing the world would just explode so that she would never have to process what was happening to her mother.
She hated everything about the world anyway.
Everything except Rafe.
He came up and set the plate of food on the nightstand next to her. "You thirsty? I could get you water, orange juice, apple juice."
She lightly pulled the warm blankets off herself, sitting up in bed. She wiped her eyes. "I'm okay, Rafe."
He leaned down, placing a sweet kiss on her temple. "Imma open the curtains, alright?"
She nodded, blankly staring across the room for a moment.
Rafe pushed the large curtains open, bringing in the light. He opened the balcony doors.
"You need anything else?" he asked her, setting his eyes back on her.
She looked over to him. She felt weak asking, "Will you sit with me while I eat?"
He nodded quickly. "Yeah. Of course, Bexley."
He sat next to her on the bed, almost excitedly, as she slowly ate the breakfast he cooked her. She complimented him, "It's good, Rafe. Thank you."
He swooned at her praise.
"Can you drive me down to the hospital today?" Bexley asked him.
"Yeah. Yeah, of course."
That was his new go-to phrase, Bexley had noticed. 'Of course'.
He'd been saying it the time, since her mom was admitted.
Everything she wanted. Of course. Of course, he'd cook for her. Of course, he'd do anything she asked. Like he was trying to make her stop being mad at him, but she was too tired to be mad in the first place.
And Rafe was often so kind, and so thoughtful, that it was...confusing her. It almost made her wonder if all those bad things he'd done in the past were just her imagination.
How could he be so cruel one moment, and then be everything she needed the next? It felt like emotional whiplash sometimes.
Whereas, JJ's stupid actions had nothing but terrible consequences.
"Do you have a headache?" Rafe asked her, his hand falling down to his shoulder, rubbing it for her. He consoled her kindly.
"No, Rafe. I'm okay."

ROCK BOTTOM ~ Rafe Cameron // OC // JJ Maybank
FanfictionJJ's biggest flaw was his recklessness, and his bad ideas. Honestly, that didn't seem that bad to Bexley. Rafe's biggest flaw? Jealousy. Pure, uncontrolled jealousy.
