Six days had gone by.

Six long, long days for Rafe.

Six days of nausea, dizziness, and complete pain. But yesterday he finally started feeling better, his body getting a bit used to the lack of cocaine in his system. So now, today, he wasn't in that pain. It would no doubt come back soon, but hopefully not today.

He wanted today to go smoothly. No problems. Because today was Bexley's adoption.

Rafe had woken up around five in the morning, taking a shower and getting ready. He spent extra time on his hair, combing it, slicking it back slightly, giving himself a fresh shave. He put on khaki dress pants, a white button down shirt, and a black suit blazer. He gave himself a few spurts of the cologne Bexley usually complimented, and even went as far as putting on a facial cream.

At nine, he went to get Wheezie. He paid a car to drive him, not wanting to mess up any part of his look but taking a motorcycle. Also, he didn't want his sister on his bike, ever. She'd think it was funny to let go of him mid ride.

Sarah and John B were both invited to the adoption as well, but they were gone by the time Rafe got to the Cameron household.

"Wheezie!" Rafe called, entering the house without knocking. He hoped his dad and Rose were out. "Let's go!"

His little sister came trudging down the stairs moments later. She was trying to pull on one of her flats, also dressed slightly formal.

"Rafe," she whined. "Sarah and John B left me here."

"Yeah, I figured," he said. "You told them you were riding with me. Let's go."

"They didn't even offer to take me," she pouted. She stepped into the kitchen, grabbing a water bottle from the fridge.

"Let's go," he repeated. "The uber's waiting outside."

"They're not going to the courthouse until twelve fifteen," she told him, glancing at the clock where it read twenty past nine. "Why are we showing up three hours early?"

"We're going to Bex's house," he explained. "Come on."

Wheezie finally stepped outside, Rafe opening the door for her to get in. Just before Rafe got back in the car, he caught a glance of his father, who was outside in the front yard. Ward stared at Rafe as he finally got in the car and left.

Wheezie laughed a bit as she got in the car, and noticed flowers in the middle of the seat. "Oh, for me?"

She reached forward, but he grabbed them away. "Don't mess with them," he told her, gruffly. He looked out the window.

She smiled mischievously. "Oh, you have love note in there or something?"

"Shut up," he told her.

They got to Susan's house half hour later. There were no extra cars in front of the house yet, everyone else planning on meeting them at the courthouse. Wheezie knocked on the door. When she did so, Rafe fidgeted, trying to perfect his hair quickly. He held the flowers.
