There have been times when I have been happy and sad, ecstatic about change and upset over the sudden developments in my life, but never have I been both sad and happy about something at the same time. It was as if God had fulfilled my biggest wish I ever asked him for, in the form of Janaki, I couldn't be more glad that on the wedding day she would be the one in whose hair I will fill the vermilion, that she would be the one who would be crowned as the Ranisa of Bikaner, she would be the one replacing Daadisa and Maasa.
But at the same time, I am anxious and afraid of how my life ahead is going to turn out, it's not that I am getting cold feet now but just imagining her leaving me or me hurting her makes me shiver.
I cannot digest the fact that even after living for 29 years on this earth, always trying to be the best son, the best brother, the best crown prince, the best businessman, the best boyfriend I have failed in certain aspects. And I just do not want to fail as a husband, no, not that, for once I want to be the best in what I do, what I become, to treasure what I wish to keep by my side for the rest of my life. To fulfil her every wish and desire, that's the least I can do for her.
So I decide to ask her, I called her.
She picked up in an instant and chuckled,"You couldn't live three hours without me?"
I smiled and said,"Three hours? Princess I cannot even properly breathe without you by my side and you expected me to live without you? Impossible. You forgot what Taylor Swift said in her song Lover? 𝓒𝓪𝓷 𝔀𝓮 𝓪𝓵𝔀𝓪𝔂𝓼 𝓫𝓮 𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓼 𝓬𝓵𝓸𝓼𝓮 𝓯𝓸𝓻𝓮𝓿𝓮𝓻 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓮𝓿𝓮𝓻 ? " I singsonged.
She gasped," Your voice - nevermind. Please tell me you didn't listen to Lover."
I shrugged my shoulders and replied,"Okay I won't."
She started laughing,"Oh God! I can't believe you, aniyo aniyo cholte aniyo."
( No, no, absolutely never.)
"What did you say?" I asked her as I couldn't fathom the words.
"Oh! It meant never in Korean." She giggled.
"Okay, listening to Taylor Swift, by the way Lover is a masterpiece, and learning Korean, hmm. I can do that much."
"You are going to do what I do? Learn Korean and listen to Taylor?" She asked.
"Yep, to know you the best, I have to." I relpied.
"Oh, oh! You are absolutely smitten." She giggled again.
