Chapter 33. Complaints.

"Jimin"

As Jae's voice echoed through the dimly lit chamber, Jimin snapped out of his reverie and turned to face the alpha approaching him. Lost in his own thoughts, Jimin began to fidget with his fingers, his gaze meeting Jae's in silence.

Jae closed the distance between them, his presence commanding attention as he stood before Jimin. Jae's expression softened as he looked at the omega standing before him.

"Jimin," Jae spoke again, his voice carrying a mixture of concern and longing. He gently caressed a strand of hair to tucked it behind the ear, before asking. "Is everything alright?"

Jimin remained silent, his response conveyed through a simple nod of his head.

"I have to go now. Come see me off to the door," Jae requested, a rare display of vulnerability from the usually stoic, cold and powerful alpha.

Gently, he took Jimin's hand in his own, tracing soothing circles with his thumb over Jimin's knuckles. Leaning down, he pressed a small peck on Jimin's hand before turning to make his way out of the chamber, Jimin in tow.

Feeling weary and defeated, Jimin let out a resigned sigh. Despite his reluctance, he followed Jae, his steps heavy with the weight of their complicated relationship and the uncertainties that lay ahead.

As Jimin and Jae exited the chamber, Maria stood waiting nearby. Jae, sensing Jimin's unease, instructed Maria to accompany the omega, ensuring that Jimin wouldn't be left alone in front of everyone when he departed with Min Yoongi. Maria obediently followed their lead, her head hanging in submission as she trailed behind them.

Descending the stairs, Jimin remained quiet, his mind consumed by a numbing emptiness. He followed Jae's lead without resistance, feeling as though he were merely being pulled along by the alpha's presence. Together, they made their way to the lobby of their manor.

As Jimin lifted his gaze from counting his own steps, his eyes fell upon a well-built alpha dressed in a brown suit and black trench coat standing near the exit door, his back turned towards them.

Squinting his eyes, Jimin scrutinized the figure, curious about the stranger's presence. However, as he continued to observe the alpha, the figure suddenly turned on his heel, catching Jimin's gaze in the process.

A small smile crept over Jimin's bruised face as their eyes met, but the expression that met his gaze was one of shock and surprise. Despite the unexpected reaction, Jimin couldn't help but feel a sense of content and happiness to see the person in front of him.

"Hyung," Jimin uttered softly, the word escaping his lips incoherently as his eyes lit up with recognition.

Gracefully descending the grand staircase of the manor, Jimin was flanked by Maria and guided by Jae's firm grip on his hand. As they made their way down, the other maids, servants, and guards observed Jimin's condition with pity, their gazes cast downward in a collective effort to avoid drawing attention to the omega's sad state.

Despite their silent empathy, no one dared to speak out or raise any concerns in Jae's presence, fearing the consequences of provoking the alpha's wrath. Each individual averted their eyes, unwilling to risk Jae's wrath, which always loomed threateningly over any who dared to challenge his authority.

As Yoongi watched Jimin with a pained expression in his eyes, he quickly averted his gaze to avoid raising any suspicions in Jae's mind. A pang of hurt, pain, and regret stabbed at his heart as he grappled with the unfolding scene.

Never had Yoongi imagined that Jae could be capable of such cruelty towards any omega, especially one whom Jae openly professed to care for deeply. Yet, witnessing Jimin's condition served as a grim reminder of the reality behind the omega's distress earlier that morning, when Yoongi had been greeted by Jimin's agonized cries for help.
