He strained his breath managing to keep the coughs in. Yoo Joonghyuk was looking at him confused.

"I must look pretty stupid right now." Kim Dokja thought as his chest relaxed.

"Sorry I just choked on some water." he lied.

Yoo Joonghyuk eyed his full glass of water and looked back at him.

"Alright," he said in a disbelieving tone. He picked up his chopsticks and started to work on his dish as he chattered to Yoo Joonghyuk about the kids.

"It's been a while since we had a date night." Kim Dokja said happily.

Yoo Joonghyuk reddened and nodded. "With work and the kids it's hard to find time." he agreed.

An uneasy feeling was knawing at Kim Dokja his smile faded and he looked up at Yoo Joonghyuk.

"Yoo Joonghyuk if I left, what would you do?" he asked his tone quiet.

"Well I would find you and bring you back home," he said narrowing his eyes at Kim Dokja. "Why would you leave?"

"But what If you couldn't find me?" Kim Dokja added on.

Yoo Joonghyuk quieted. "That won't happen," he said looking into Kim Dokja's eyes. Kim Dokja fidgeted with the tablecloth.

"You're right, let's just enjoy our dinner," he said his usual grin plastered on his face.

The pair walked outside hand in hand. The air was colder than before sending a cold shiver down Kim Dokja's spine.

"If, you disappeared." Yoo Joonghyuk tightened his hand around Kim Dokjas as they walked. "I don't know what I would do if I could even keep going," he said.

Yoo Joonghyuk held onto Kim Dokja tightly as if the wind would blow him away. Kim Dokja leaned onto Yoo Joonghyuk's side seeping in his warmth.

"We'll grow old together." Yoo Joonghyuk said his voice determined.

Kim Dokja laughed. "I'll hold you to it." he smiled. The pair walked home as if a rope tied them together. Kim Dokja cherished their moments together; this was enough for now.

When they got home it was quiet.

"The kids must be sleeping." Kim Dokja said in a hushed tone as he took off his jacket.

"I'm going to check on the kids." Kim Dokja lightly walked on the steps careful not to make a loud sound. Both of the rooms were dark, Lee Gilyoung's little nightlight shined dimly. He crept into his room where Lee Gilyoung was sleeping. He was always a weird sleeper right now he was sprawled on the bed his blanket only covered his chest.

"Goodnight Lee Gilyoung." Kim Dokja whispered, fixing the blanket to cover Lee Gilyoung fully. Shin Yoosung's room was right next to his.

Shin Yoosung was sleeping, neatly as expected. Her chest moved slowly. Kim Dokja laid his hand on her head lightly.

"Night Shin Yoosung," he said quietly.

He walked towards the door to leave.

"I'm sorry," she said.

Kim Dokja looked back Shin Yoosoung was still lying down. "It's ok, go to bed its late," he said smiling at her.

"Mhm," she replied, her breathing slowed again and she was asleep.

Kim Dokja crawled into bed next to Yoo Joonghyuk who was reading a book.

"Night Yoo Joonghyuk." he yawned.

Yoo Joonghyuk shut off his light and grabbed Kim Dokja's waist pulling him closer.

"Night." he closed his eyes his chin resting on top of Kim Dokjas head. Kim Dokja felt his heart warm

"This is what I've been working for all my life." he thought as he fell asleep in Yoo Joonghyuk's arms.

When he woke up Yoo Joonghyuk was already gone, he could hear the kids getting ready for school downstairs.

"Morning!" Lee Gilyoung perked up looking up from his breakfast.

"Morning how was the babysitter?" Kim Dokja asked.

"Great, she let us stay up and watch TV past our bedtime!" he said.

Kim Dokja sighed "Morning Shin Yoosung." he said.

She already ate her breakfast and was packing her backpack for the day.

"Morning," she replied her eyes still heavy with sleep.

"Today, you don't need to walk us." Lee Gilyoung said as he put away his dishes.

Shin Yoosung nodded. After the kids got ready to leave they both left the house. Kim Dokja stood at the doorway as they walked away.

Shin Yoosung waved back at him "See you!" she said.

Kim Dokja waved back but neither of them saw it. Kim Dokja hated how quiet the house got. Han Sooyoung was probably hanging out with her new date so even she wasn't here to annoy him. He searched through his closet for something to wear. As he looked through his many pairs of sweatpants something fell to the ground with a thud. He looked down and on the ground was a journal covered in brown leather. His name was written in the corner in sloppy handwriting.

"This is from when I was a kid!" he picked it up dusting it off. He sat on his knees and he flipped to the first page. His eyes softened as he read the entry.

"This is the last gift from my mom." he thought his eyes welled up.

There were still some empty pages. "Maybe I should finish this." he thought and put it in his bedside drawer. As he did the slip of paper that the clinic gave to him caught his eye.

"I was putting this off." he didn't want to find out what was wrong with him maybe if he just ignored it, it would go away. He dialed in the number.

"Please wait while we connect you to a receptionist." the robotic voice buzzed after he entered his information.

"Hello, thank you for calling Eden Hospital, can I have your name?"

"Kim Dokja." he could hear the lady typing in his name as he waited.

"We have you right here for a chest radiography when would you like to come in?"

He stayed silent for a moment, "Does today work?" he asked. The receptionist typed in something else. "Yep, how is 12:30 today?"

"That would be great thank you," he said. "Have a great day!" With a beep the call ended.
