As they walked closer to Kim Dokja's room, Yoo Joonghyuk was suddenly aware of the amount of nurses rushing past him. "Did something happen with a patient?" Lee Gilyoung asked he pressed himself close to Han Sooyoung as he looked around. Han Sooyoung placed a hand on his head "It's a hospital." she said shortly but her eyes were dark. A part of her deep down knew that something had gone wrong

Yoo Joonghyuk clenched his jaw as his pace started to quicken. He left the overs behind and was practically running towards Kim Dokja's room. "Hey, you there stop!" A guard yelled at him. Yoo Joonghyuk gave no regard to the security guard and turned a corner to the hallway where Kim Dokjas's room was. The number of nurses crowding around Kim Dokjas's room made him stop. "No, no this can't be happening!" he pushed past the nurses and burst into Kim Dokjas's room.

"No.."

"No."

"No,No,No,No,No."

Yoo Joonghyuk's world shattered the moment he entered that room. The sight before him was a nightmare he had feared but hoped would never come to pass. Lee Seolhwas's desperate attempt to save Kim Dokjas, her hands rhythmically pressing against his chest, made everything feel surreal. Her shouts of counting and the sound of the doctors trying to get him out of the room faded into a muted background, overtaken by the deafening roar of his heartbeat.

A cold sweat broke out on his forehead, his vision narrowing as if the room was closing in on him. His chest tightened painfully, each breath came out a strangled gasp. "This wasn't happening." the thought repeated in his mind over and over again as he stared at Kim Dokjas's pale, lifeless form on the bed. He felt an overwhelming surge of helplessness and despair, emotions that he had subsided for so long were now threatening to drown him.

"No, no, no, no, no, no" the word tumbled from his lips, and his head shook in denial. Kim Dokjas was his world, he needed to be here. He was meant to stay with Yoo Joonghyuk. Yoo Joonghyuk needed him. He pleaded with the universe to do him a favor just this once. He was nothing without Kim Dokja. The life he built was all thanks to the man fighting for his life right in front of him. His legs felt weak, he was barely able to hold himself up. He wanted to look away from Kim Dokja but he couldn't tear his eyes away. Yoo Joonghyuks eyes focused and the sounds started flooding back in. He didn't realize it but Lee Seolhwa had stopped shouting numbers. She wasn't even pumping air into Kim Dokjas's chest. She was still and her eyes stared straight at Yoo Joonghyuks. There were no words spoken, but nothing needed to be said.

A chasm of grief opened up inside of him, raw and all-consuming. He wanted to yell at Lee Seolhwa and tell her to keep on trying. They couldn't just give up, could they? "Sir you need to get out!" a nurse said but their voice was drowned out.

He inched closer to Kim Dokja's bedside his eyes glassed over. Memories of Kim Dokja flashed into his mind, the quiet moments they spent together, the times they had gone on a little date night, stolen kisses when the kids weren't looking. With each passing moment, everything felt like a cruel joke on him. His hands clenched into his fists, his nails digging into his palms until they drew blood.

At that moment, Yoo Joonghyuk was powerless again. He was just another person waiting to be saved. This pain hurt worse than anything ever before, it outweighed all the despair and tried in his life.

"Please Kim Dokja," he whispered, he was pulled out of the room as he said that. One last plea to the world that seems determined to rip Kim Dokja away from him.
