Han Sooyoung rushed towards Kim Dokja frantic. "Kim Dokja!" she held his shoulders. "I'll call an ambulance, don't worry." she fumbled for her phone.

Kim Dokja shook his head "No, please don't." his voice came out raw.

Han Sooyoung looked at him bewildered "Are you crazy you coughed up blood!" Kim Dokja felt his heart tighten

"Please, quiet down." he pleaded, each word he spoke was like a knife. Han Sooyoung stared at him her eyes hardened and she grabbed his wrist.

"Kim Dokja are you stupid why should I!" Kim Dokja looked down avoiding her gaze

"Let's go somewhere else," he said quietly. "Please."

Han Sooyoung breathed in and leveled her expression. "Ok."

Han Sooyoung followed him wordlessly as they walked to the nearby park. They both sat on a park bench, Kim Dokja breathed in. "How am I going to tell her?" he thought his head pounding.

"Spit it out." Han Sooyoung said her tone was hard but also full of worry.

"I-I'm sick." Kim Dokja said unevenly.

"Sick, what does sick mean?" Han Sooyoung asked.

"Hemopytitis." the words were bitter against his tongue. A wave of silence washed over them. "What, what the fuck is that?"

"I'm not sure I didn't stick around for details, all I know is that it makes me do..that," he said remembering the puddle of blood.

"You can get treated though." Han Sooyoung said. Kim Dokjas's breath hitched. His nails dug into his skin as he tried to find the right words. He looked up at Han Sooyoung, who was looking straight at him her eyes glassed over. "I won't be getting better," he said tightly.

Han Sooyoung's expression fell "You're joking, that isn't funny." she shook her head.

"I can take you to a doctor and you'll get better." her voice wobbled.

"Han Sooyoung..I'm dying" Kim Dokja reached out to her but she batted his hand away and stood up.

"You can't do this!" her voice heightened.

"I'm sorry." Kim Dokja said silently his eyes stung with tears.

"No.." Han Sooyoung's voice cracked the tears escaped her eyes. "How do you know, are you sure?" she wiped her tears but they kept coming.

 "I went to the doctor."

"By yourself?" she sat limply next to him. Kim Dokja nodded. "Why didn't you tell anyone."

Kim Dokja didn't have a good answer, why didn't he tell them? He hugged Han Sooyoung tightly "I'm sorry."  he said again.

"How long?" she asked. "Han Sooyoung lets jus-" he was cut off

"How long," she asked again.

"The doctor said about a month."

Han Sooyoung hugged Kim Dokja tighter. Kim Dokja let her sob into his chest. He let the silence wash over them.

"Remember in high school, when you stood up to those bullies for me?" he said wistfully. "You were the only one who was nice to me, without you I would've never made it this far." Kim Dokja put his hand on Han Sooyoung's head.

"I owe everything to you." he smiled sadly.

Han Sooyoung looked up at him. "When will you tell the others?" she whispered.

Kim Dokja fell silent. He pictured Yoo Joonghyuk's face, crying. His heart felt like it was getting chipped away. "I don't know how I will." Kim Dokja said.

Han Sooyoung looked down her jaw clenched tightly. "In the morning, you can tell them, I'll be right beside you," she said softly.

Kim Dokja didn't want ever to tell them, it was like if he didn't admit to his family what was happening he wouldn't die. All he could do was sit in silence.

"Let's go back now, the sun is already rising." Han Sooyoung said letting go of Kim Dokja.

Kim Dokja looked up the sky was a mix of deep orange and dark blue. It pulled at his heart for some reason.

Han Sooyoung nudged him up and they walked together. "I'm sure there's something we can do."

Han Sooyoung said stuffing her hands into her pockets.

Kim Dokja let himself believe in false hope "Yeah."

When they arrived Han Sooyoung walked over to her temporary room. "I'll be back soon." she closed the door behind her.

Kim Dokja scanned the room, Yoo Joonghyuk was still sleeping on the couch his brows furrowed. Kim Dokja walked over to him, careful not to wake him. He crouched down and looked at his sleeping face. He pressed his thumb lightly in between Yoo Joonghyuk's eyebrows. "Good morning." he smiled softly.

Yoo Joonghyuk woke up slowly. "Morning," he said his voice heavy.

Han Sooyoung walked in, her face was washed and made it impossible to tell she was crying. She glanced at Kim Dokja. Kim Dokja hesitated, he couldn't avoid it much longer.

They had been through too much together. Yoo Joonghyuk noticed Kim Dokjas's off behavior as he stared off into the distance.

"You ok?" he asked. Kim Dokja took a deep breath, his heart sinking.

"Can we talk, outside?" he asked. Yoo Joonghyuk's face flashed with worry.

"Sure." Yoo Joonghyuk agreed. Kim Dokja walked Yoo Joonghyuk into the backyard. A cold shiver ran down his body as he met Yoo Joonghyuk's gaze.

"A couple of days ago, I went to the doctor." Kim Dokja started the words barely squeaking out of his mouth. Yoo Joonghyuk's concern grew,

"What is it, you sound serious," he said huskily.

"Shit, I don't know if I can do this." Kim Dokja thought.

"Yoo Joonghyuk.." his voice broke.

He hugged him tightly. "I'm sorry, I can't say it" he cried. Yoo Joonghyuk's arms wrapped around him.

"Say what, Kim Dokja?" his usual stoic voice was now scared as he held onto Kim Dokja.
