Yoo Joonghyuk sat down on the bed his back leaned against the wall as he stared at a laptop. His eyes glassed over as he focused on the profile picture. A bitter feeling rose up in his chest as he typed in the password.
A mixture of emotions bubbled inside him as the screen loaded in. It was a poorly taken photo of Yoo Joonghyuk and Kim Dokja. Kim Dokja was holding the phone up in the air with a bubbly smile as he wrapped a hand around Yoo Joonghyuk. Yoo Joonghyuk was looking at Kim Dokja his eyes soft and full of love. He fought the urge to close the laptop. He envied the Yoo Joonghyuk on the screen.
His eyes scanned the computer, the mouse hovered over a lone file placed in the corner. It was labeled "Click Me"
He clicked on the file and froze in place. His eyes stared directly at Kim Dokjas. There he was again, frozen in the hospital room as if he was three feet away and not out of reach in every way.
Yoo Joonghyuk shakily pressed Play on the video, and Kim Dokja came back to life.
"Hi, Yoo Joonghyuk."
At that moment Yoo Joonghyuk felt like this video would kill him.
"If you're watching this well, I hope you never need to." Kim Dokja said he chewed on his lip for a moment before looking up again. "I don't have a lot of time, not because of this bullshit thing I have but you're right outside my room. I'm not really great at goodbyes so just in case something happens I want you to know just how much I love you."
Yoo Joonghyuk felt the familiar sting of tears as his eyes blurred. He quickly wiped away his tears so he could focus on Kim Dokja. "I can't imagine where I would be without you, before you came into my life I felt like a husk of what you made me."
"No matter how much time we could have together it would never be enough so I hope you know that every second I spent with you made me feel complete. The stuff that's happening right now is pretty shitty but it could be a lot worse. I could've never met you."
Kim Dokja was now tearing up as his voice started to tremble. "I know that you love me, and you might need to learn how to live without me." Kim Dokja cringed "Sorry, that might've come off weird."
"I don't want you to fall into this black hole where you shut everyone out again. You have so many people here that love and care for you and you have to never forget that. Lee Gilyoung and Shin Yoosoung need you no matter what, and Han Sooyoung will be with you every step of the way." Kim Dokja gazed at what Yoo Joonghyuk knew was the door.
He turned back to the screen "Yoo Joonghyuk I could have a whole year to record this video but I could never find the right words." A single tear fell down Kim Dokja's face and he quickly wiped it away. "I love you, Yoo Joonghyuk. Live for both of us." Kim Dokja flashed a familiar warm smile before he waved goodbye.
With a click the video ended but Yoo Joonghyuk's tears had barely started. Kim Dokja loved him. Kim Dokja was Yoo Joonghyuks first for most things and now he would experience new things in this life. In the end, he knew Kim Dokja would be at his side with a smile.
