Kim Dokja swayed as he walked his mind was racing. How would he say goodbye, how could he say goodbye? He felt like his heart was being carved out.
"I'm going to die?" he thought and looked up at the sky, the sun was harsh and blaring.
"I don't want to die." he looked down at the ground balling up his fists.
Suddenly he was a child again, his dad left him at the park to grab a drink and Kim Dokja was left alone in the night his crys heard by no one except himself. He pushed himself to his house. The calendar next to the door caught his eye. The dates were bright and scribbled on with crayons.
"The festival.." He lingered on the date. It's almost a month away.
"I won't tell them now, I can't." he sat limply on the couch in a daze. He didn't know how long he sat there in silence until his kids came home.
"We're home!" The door opened and light flooded in along with his two kids.
He snapped back into his normal self.
"How was school today?" he asked. getting up from the couch.
"Boring, I hate math!"Lee Gilyoung said exasperated. Shin Yoosung nodded in agreement.
"Ahjussi there's an event happening at my school this Friday after school can you come?" she asked her eyes glinting.
Kim Dokja patted her head
"Sure, do I need to bring anything?" Shin Yoosung shook her head. "No, it's just like a speech," she explained.
Lee Gilyoung butted in "I'm in the speech!" he said.
Shin Yoosung glared at him "We're both in it." she crossed her arms.
Lee Gilyoung turned his head away.
Kim Dokja let out a sigh. "C'mon, you guys no arguing."
Kim Dokjas eyes softened "I'm going to miss this." he thought.
He pulled the two into a tight hug.
"I love you guys," he said not letting his voice break.
Shin Yoosung hugged him back tighter "I love you too!" she said her voice slightly confused by the sudden act.
Lee Gilyoung also hugged him "Me too." he said burying his head into Kim Dokja. It took everything in his power not to cry, so he gently let go. "
Sorry, I just felt like I don't say it enough." He looked at his two kids, he would give up his life for them.
"I'm never going to see them graduate." the sudden thought caught him off guard and he turned away quickly.
"I'll start making dinner, Yoo Joonghyuk should be back soon," he said.
"Alright." Lee Gilyoung nodded and walked up to his room, probably to play around with his bugs. Shin Yoosung stayed downstairs and started working on her homework at the kitchen table.
After a while, Yoo Joonghyuk came home. Kim Dokja was in the kitchen. "How are you feeling?" Yoo Joonghyuk asked as he set down his things from work.
Kim Dokja smiled at him "I'm fine now!" he gave Yoo Joonghyuk a thumbs up.
"If you say so." he sounded a little bit skeptical but nodded.
Both of the kids were already upstairs, so Kim Dokja poured himself a cup of coffee and sat down on the couch next to Yoo Joonghyuk.
"Wanna watch something?" Kim Dokja asked as he sipped on coffee.
Yoo Joonghyuk's nose wrinkled "You shouldn't be drinking coffee so late." he said as he grabbed the remote.
Kim Dokja laughed lightly "It's only a little bit." he assured.
Yoo Joonghyuk picked a corny old detective film and he pulled Kim Dokja in closer to his side. Kim Dokja rested his head on his shoulder, but he couldn't truly relax. The film flickered in the background as Kim Dokja sunk deeper and deeper into Yoo Joonghyuk.
"Yoo Joonghyuk?" he mumbled his voice heavy with sleep.
"Yeah?" Yoo Joonghyuk answered back. "I'm glad I met you." Kim Dokja said with a small smile. Yoo Joonghyuk gazed at Kim Dokja his expression soft.
"Me too." he pecked Kim Dokjas's forehead. Kim Dokja let his eyes close, as he rested on Yoo Joonghyuk.
Kim Dokja blinked open in his eyes taking in his surroundings. "Downstairs, why am I downstairs?" he looked around.
The memories from yesterday flooded in causing him to shiver.
"Oh." he sat up and hugged his knees.
The clock on his fridge said it was 4 am and the house was quiet. Yoo Joonghyuk was sleeping beside him, arms crossed. The all too familiar feeling stirred in his chest like a storm. He quickly ran outside holding his mouth shut so no one could hear him. The coughs were worse this time, each time it felt like a dull knife scraping at his stomach. With each cough it grew more painful he could feel the blood bubbling inside of him. Cough! A splatter of blood escaped his mouth. "Hngh." Kim Dokja struggled to catch his breath and he leaned on the front door weakly clasping his stomach.
"Kim Dokja..?" Han Sooyoung stood in front of him her eyes wide and panicked.
