Emma let out a heavy breath, pacing from side to side. How dare Blake approach her like that? He was the one who wanted to break up, not her. He was the one who wanted her to live her life without him in it. It wasn't like she brought Chris as a date; he was just a fun guy to be around, someone who helped pull her out of the sour mood she'd been in lately.
She leaned back against the side of the school. She was the only one outside; everyone else was inside enjoying their prom night. She wrapped her arms around herself as the cold air bit at her bare skin, making her wish for a coat. She pushed a small tear away, ready to go back inside to find Chris.
"Trouble in paradise, is it? I would be happy to take both hot guys off your hands for you," Heather said, walking out the school's double doors. Emma glared at her as she smiled, walking closer. Heather's dark purple dress shimmered in the moonlight.
Her makeup was caked on like a clown, yet almost every girl in the school wanted to look exactly like her. It was honestly sad. Emma fidgeted with her necklace anxiously, drawing Heather's eye. Heather reached out, pulling the heart pendant out of Emma's hand.
"He got this for ya? How sweet," she said, grinding her teeth. Emma took a big step to the side, making the necklace fall from Heather's hand. Heather scoffed in distaste, making Emma wonder what her problem was. Her and Blake's relationship was none of Heather's business, honestly.
"You know, Emma, I'm kinda jealous of you. Do you know why?" Heather leaned against the wall beside her, pulling a small glass bottle from her bra. Now that she was standing closer and Emma was actually paying attention, she could smell the strong alcohol on her breath. Heather opened the top, throwing her head back and taking a long swig.
"He always looked at you... paid attention to you since that dance last year. I always liked him. I wanted him to dance with me that night, but he looked right past me like I was a nobody, just like everyone else at this damn school.
At first I thought he was looking at Reina. Everyone always bypassed me for her...." Her voice trailed off, her hand tightening around the bottle. She hung her head, her hair falling around her face. "But it was you he was looking at, miss 'nobody.' And I think I lost it in that moment."
She began laughing as if it was all hilariously fun. Emma's eyes widened. What was wrong with Heather? She had never seen her act this way before. Was she on drugs or something? Something about how she was acting was putting Emma on edge.
"I'm tired of playing second, Emma... I really am... That bitch Reina deserved what she got. Her death was long overdue." Heather threw back the rest of the liquid. Emma pushed herself off the wall, glaring at Heather, who was now leaning against the wall without a care.
"How can you say that about someone who used to be your friend?!" Heather swirled the last drop of alcohol left in the bottle, looking at Emma before pushing away from the wall.
Emma took an uneasy step back. "She was never my friend. She was a bitch that I put up with. But as you see, she's dead now and I'm the queen bee. And hey, can I let you in on a little secret?" She smashed the bottom of the bottle against the wall, making it shatter.
Emma jumped away as Heather walked closer. Emma went to yell, but Heather covered her mouth quickly, pushing the smashed bottle against her stomach. Emma screamed through the hand, feeling the sharp glass penetrate her skin through the dress. Blood slowly began to seep through. Heather leaned closer, her cheek right against Emma's. With her other hand, Heather held both of Emma's hands behind her back.
"I killed her," Heather whispered. "And I'll kill you, too, after he's finished with you. Of course, I'm gonna finish having fun at prom first. Then I'll be seeing you again."
A sports car sped into the parking lot, pulling up right beside them. The back seat door opened, and Thomas gave them a sinister smile. Emma's eyes widened, seeing him.
"Aww, it looks like she remembers me," he laughed, making Emma fight harder against Heather, to no avail. Heather pulled her head back, smiling at Emma sweetly. "Try not to have too much fun."
She punched Emma, shoving her into the dark back seat. The door slammed shut behind her. As Emma landed inside, Thomas slid zip ties around her wrist and a gag into her mouth as the car began speeding down the street, her body thrown back and forth.
***Minutes prior...
Blake felt like a real asshole. He shouldn't have acted that way, especially since it was his idea to break up in the first place. She could do whatever she wanted; she was her own woman. She deserved to come to prom and have a good time.
"Blake... Is that you? What are you doing here, dude?" Chris said while making his way toward him with a cup in one hand and a cupcake in the other.
Blake ran his fingers through his hair, embarrassed. "It's a long story."
Chris sighed, looking around. "Well, do you know where Emma is? I got her some punch and a cupcake."Blake pushed himself off the wall. Emma was still outside, cooling down. But it was cold out there; she should come in, even though he had pissed her off "Yeah, she's probably outside. Let's go check on her."
Blake led Chris outside, just as Emma was pushed into the back seat of a red sports car. Chris dropped the cup and cupcake to the ground as the car sped away. Heather turned toward them with a grin before sprinting down the sidewalk.
"What the fuck!" Chris yelled, taking off after her at full speed. He stopped for a moment, tossing his keys to Blake. "Go after that car! I won't let her get away!"
Blake nodded, running toward Chris's car. He threw open the door and slammed his foot on the gas. His heart pounded in his ears.He still wasn't sure if he could trust the cops to help him right now, so he pulled out his phone and frantically texted the one person who had their back since the beginning: Ms. O'Connor.
Cop Lady- Track my phone. Now. Emma's been kidnapped. Red sports car. Chris is chasing the girl near the school. Please help.
Blake slammed his fist against the wheel as frustration and fear overtook him. His eyes were glued on the car in front of him as it wove through traffic. The only thing he could think was, what if he couldn't save Emma this time?
Mia note- The climax is here yall!
