Dr Sweetheart and Dr Gorgeous

It's my first day at Grey Sloan Memorial, I knew I had to make a good impression. I also need to make sure I don't end up screwing up on the first day.

"You must be y/n Wolfe" the famous Dr Bailey said. "Yes, I'm not late am I?" I said checking my watch. "No, you're actually early, I just like waiting for our new starts so you don't get lost." Bailey reassured.

Bailey starts giving me a tour of the hospital as I arrived 45 minutes early. "Did you get in last night?" Bailey asks. "Yesterday morning, gave me a chance to adjust to the time zone." I replied.

She shows me all the floors and where the OR's are and then she takes me to the Peds floor. I gorgeous blonde is stood talking to another doctor. Her hair tied into a low pony with a curl. 'She's gorgeous' I thought to myself. I shake away the feeling as I realise that she is the chief of Peds.

"Dr Robbins, this is Dr Wolfe, she's our new third year resident. Dr Wolfe specialises in Peds." Bailey introduces. "Hi Dr Wolfe, I'm Dr Robbins but you can call me Arizona" she says with a really cute smile. "You can call me y/n". I reply knowing full well I can't fall for my boss.

Bailey gets a page, "right, I've been paged to the pit, Robbins be nice!" Bailey rushes off.

"Ignore her, I'm the nicest one around here." Arizona says with a little giggle. "Okay, so first off, we don't really need to do anything." Arizona continues. "How come?" I ask curiously.

A group of second year residents walk past and hand Arizona a pile of charts. "Because the second year residents did it all for us. I scheduled us a 45 minute free block because in Peds we're a family and I want to get to know you." Arizona explains and then takes my hand and leads me to a conference room.

"So, tell me about yourself, not the medical stuff, I kinda know all that stuff already because I had to sign off on your transfer. I want to know about you." Arizona began. Okay y/n think, what do I say about myself that wont scare her off.

"Okay, so I grew up in New York but matched with Chicago Medical Centre, it was okay but they didn't offer what I wanted." I started before Arizona cut me off. "Did they not let you work in Peds?" I kinda sat for a minute to figure out how to word my next sentence knowing she'll be on the phone to Chicago Medical Centre any minute. "Okay, well before you call up Chicago Med, they didn't HAVE a Peds unit. They had a separate hospital for all paediatric cases but they didn't have a residency program." Arizona was really taking in what I was saying.

*30 minutes later*

Arizona stands up, "Lets introduce you to the rest of the team." She walks out the conference room and I follow behind clustering together the stack of charts from the table. I catch up to Arizona and she introduces me to a few of the nurses and then a guy comes over. "Who's this hottie?" The Doctor says. "Karev!" Arizona says. "Hate to break it to you, I'm gay. I like girls." I say as Arizona whips her head around. "Me too!" she says as she hold her hand up for a high five.

"Dr Wolfe, this is Dr Alex Karev. If he makes any inappropriate comments just come to me... or threaten him he wont take it literally but he'll back off." Arizona says. "Hello Dr Karev, I'm Dr Wolfe." I hold my hand out for him to shake it and he just walks past. "Ignore him, he's pissed that he can't date you." Arizona says a little louder so he can hear her. Karev flips her off. "Karev there are kids around!" Arizona shouts after him. We both giggle.

She introduces me to the rest of the team and then we got to work. I scrubbed in on an appy. It was good for a first as it eased me into the new hospital. After the appy I made sure I checked in on the patient and then went and checked on some other patients that Arizona asked me to check on. The perks of being a third year resident is that I don't have to do scut and I actually get to do things.

*6pm*

I had half an hour left of shift and we had an eight year old boy with a brain tumour come in. Arizona paged neuro, Dr Shepherd came in and did a consult. "Hi Riley, I want to introduce you to Dr Shepherd, she's going to be giving you a quick work up and then we're going to take you for an MRI and CT." Arizona introduces the little boy to Dr Shepherd. "Dr Robbins, who's that doctor? She looks like a princess." the little boy asks.

"That is our new resident, she's called Dr Wolfe." Arizona explains as I walk over and wave at the little boy. "Hi Riley. I'm Dr Wolfe, it's very nice to meet you." I say as I stand at the end of his bed.

Dr Shepherd does a quick work up and we head down to CT with Riley. Me and Arizona made sure he was okay before going into the other room. "I'm Amelia, you're y/n right. Bailey was singing your praises in the cafeteria." Amelia says as I giggle. "Yeah, it's nice to properly meet you, you're a legend in New York" I say. "Ooh another city gal." Amelia says with a giggle. "Yeah, born and bred."

"Ooh the scans are in!" Arizona says. "Yeesh. Thats huge!" I say. It was such a big tumour for such a small little boy. Arizona and Amelia look at me as I examine the scans. "What? Oh I kinda stuck with neuro when I was in Chicago." They both nod. "They had no peds!" Arizona whispers to Amelia.

We finish the consult with the little boy and Amelia schedules a surgery for the following morning. "You two wanna scrub in tomorrow?" Amelia says to me and Arizona. "yeah", "I'd love to" we said at the same time. "Okay, OR 4 at 9.30am tomorrow" Me and Arizona head off as Amelia shouts, "Don't be late!"

I take off my scrubs and get into my jeans and white top before throwing on my leather jacket and heading out. Arizona catches me on my way out. "You want to go for a drink, there's a bar across the road." I think to myself, I didn't ask, she did. "yeah sure, let me just grab my bag." I grab my bag and make sure my scrubs are folded for tomorrow.

*At Joe's*

"So, you're single?" Arizona asks. "yeah, I mean, I've kinda never not been single." Arizona chokes on her drink. "HOW?!?!?" Arizona says loudly. I giggle, "I don't know, I've never really met anyone who was attracted to me." I say quietly, but loud enough for Arizona to hear me. "But you're gorgeous!" I choke on my drink as I try not to laugh.

I talk with Arizona all night and learn about her previous relationship. She has a kid called Sofia, she showed me a picture and she's gorgeous. We head out of Joe's and Arizona offers me a lift.

We drive to my flat which is a 10 minute ish journey. When we pull up outside my building, I smile at Arizona, "Thank you for today, honestly I was so nervous, but you did something, I don't know what but honestly it calmed all of my nerves. So thank you!" I say as I grab my bag from the back seat and go to open the door. "It was my pleasure, you remind me of myself when I was younger. Now get inside, sleep up we've got Rileys surgery in the morning! Do you want a lift in?" Ariona asks. "Only if I'm on your way, don't want you going out of the way to get me."

"Y/n, I live 10 minutes away but yes you are on my way in so of course I'll pick you up." Arizona says winding down the window. "Message me when you're home please" I say from the door of my building. "I will, bye" She says as she winds up her window and starts driving away.

I walk into the lobby and into the elevator and press the button for the 9th floor. I head up to the penthouse. My parents had put money away for when I got my residency and luckily I had enough for a penthouse here after staying in a small apartment in Chicago. I threw my coat on the sofa and grabbed myself a glass of water before heading to bed.

I took a quick shower to wash off the smell of the hospital and got myself into bed. I turned the tv on and just let the news play as I started to unwind. I set my alarm for 7am so I had time to make some breakfast and to prepare my lunch for tomorrow.

*phone dings*

Arizona: Just got home :)

Me: Good, what time do you want me ready in the morning?

Arizona: I'll be outside at 8.30am :)

Me: Okay, goodnight :)

Arizona: Goodnight :)

I put my phone on do not disturb and double checked my alarm was set and shut off my tv.
