A couple of months later.

"Today is October 19th and we are reporting live from the Seattle Marathon" The newscaster says as Arizona, Maya and I are all stretching and warming up. "Behind me right now are Dr Robbins, Dr Wolfe and Lieutenant Bishop who have raised an amazing nine hundred and seventy thousand dollars for the paediatric department at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. The crowdfunding page is still live for another week so if you can spare some money, your donation would be extremely grateful." The newscaster continues.

An announcement is made for all runners in the first section head to the starting line. The route consists of running past both Station 19 and Grey Sloan so we are definitely going to be getting some cheers when running past. The pistol went off and we were on our way. We had managed to run a couple of marathon length runs with only four pit stops to fill up water so that was our plan. There is a pits top station at the end of each mile so we have decided at mile six, twelve, eighteen and 24 we will do a pit stop, whether we need water or a minute to breathe before we carry on.

The run started nicely, we found ourselves in a place where we weren't right at the front but we weren't right at the back either. There was music playing the whole time to keep us going and we had people waving banners for us. "Thank you Dr Robbins and Dr Wolfe" we heard shouted from one side of the road. As I look over I see Lea the little girl we treated a few months back with her mom. We waved and carried on running.

We reached mile six and Maya needed to top up her water so I stretched out my legs for a second and then topped up my water as well. Arizona was fine, she hadn't used much water yet. Once we were ready we carried on again. We were about to run past Station 19 and we could hear lots of ruckus. I looked down the road to see the entire team stood on the front with pots and pans and banners cheering us on. Once they had all clocked us coming towards them they were cheering even louder. "Yes girls", "Woo you can do this" and "We're so proud of you" were all shouted from the team as we ran past.

"That was a good push" Maya said as she took both mine and Arizona's hands and we carried on running. After another two miles we were coming up to Grey Sloan. Once again we heard the ruckus of pots and pans and cheers. I see nearly all of our friends and most of the team stood at the front opposite Joe's bar cheering us on. "Come on girls you're halfway there" Owen shouted as he was cheering us on. I couldn't see Jo or Amelia but I just presumed that they were in a surgery or working on someone.

The next ten miles flew by, we decided we didn't need to stop at mile twelve because we all wanted to push through. We reached mile eighteen and stopped because we needed to fill up our waters. The sun was beaming and we were starting to get really hot so we downed one bottle and then refilled it before we carried on. The run became more and more easy as the signs started saying 'only 4 more miles.' We reached mile twenty four and could see the finish so we decided against stopping and to just power through the last two and a bit miles.

As we reach the final 0.2 miles we can hear the aid cars sirens blaring and the banging of pots and pans. Running through the finish line was like we'd completed the hunger games. Amelia and Jo were sat with Andy and Vic in an aid car waiting for us. "Hey! You did it!!!!" Amelia said running over to us. "Arizona are you okay?" I ask as she looks a little bit tired. "yeah! I do think I've got a blister though" Arizona says as she starts to take her shoe off. Amelia walks with Arizona to get her a plaster for her blister and Jo takes me to the aid car to get some more water.

Maya, Andy and Vic all sit on the edge of the aid car with me while we wait for Amelia and Arizona to come back. Once they all get back Andy and Vic drive Maya back to the Station and Amelia and Jo drive Arizona and I back to Grey Sloan. "I've been keeping track of the donations, you've ht a million dollars" Amelia says as Arizona and I gawp at the amount. "A MILLION DOLLARS?" I shout in shock. "Yeah! Apparently, Catherine Avery donated a large amount" Jo said, "Jackson must have told her." She continued.

The car pulls into the ambulance bay at Grey Sloan and we are greeted by Owen, April, Maggie and Teddy. They are all cheering for us as we get out of the car. We give hugs and I take a large bottle of water off Teddy as I'm still thirsty. "You guys smashed that!" Owen said as he passes us both a cooling towel. "Thank you! Honestly, I don't know how we did that!" Arizona said. "It was all worth it though. A million dollars raised for the peds department!" I say as I start dancing. "1.3 Million now" The donations were piling in. "You guys made national television and I even think you made international television." April says as she scrolls through twitter showing us all the news channels reporting on the marathon because of Arizona, Maya and I.

"I don't know about you but I am in dire need of a shower and a slice of cake" I say to Arizona. She takes my hand and we head inside to the Attending's Lounge and take a quick shower. I change into a pair of sweatpants and a vest top with my Grey Sloan fleece. Arizona is already sat eating a slice of cake. "Here" she says handing me a slice. I take the cake and just lie next to Arizona eating it. Throughout the day we had Jo, Teddy, April and Amelia taking it in turns to make sure neither of us had passed out from dehydration.

We hear a knock on the door, "Hello" I say as Teddy walks in. "Neither of you have collapsed thats good" Teddy says. "Teddy, we are fine, we've eaten we've got water and we both have banana bags, we are fine. Tell Owen to stop worrying about us!" I say to Teddy before giving her a hug and telling her to go back to work. A couple of minutes later Owen comes in for his break. "Good you're both okay." He says letting out a sigh of relief. "We aren't going to die in here Owen, we're fine! Like we've just told Teddy. Don't worry about us." Arizona says as she shows him that we both have banana bags to give us some fluids.

I start scrolling through tiktok when I see a few videos of us running past Station 19 and Grey Sloan. I'm not sure who posted it but whoever posted it linked the donation page to the video and the video went viral. Arizona's phone got a notification. *Congratulations, you have raised TWO MILLION DOLLARS!* The notification on her phone read. We both look at the phone in shock. "Are you two okay?" Owen asks. "We've raised two million dollars!" I say slowly. "Oh my god that's incredible!" The donations are piling in so we decide to not look at the app until we have to close the fundraiser.

April comes into the Attending's Lounge for her break which meant Owen's break was over. "How are you two feeling" April asks, "Great, we feel a lot more hydrated now and ecstatic at the amount of money we've raised in the past 6 months." I say as I stand up to get myself an apple. "How much have you raised?" April asks. "Sorry, I'm being nosey" she finishes. "No, don't worry, we've just hit 2 million dollars" Arizona answers. Aprils shocked expression made both me and Arizona burst out laughing. "What?" April asks. "Nothing, you just pulled a face which made us laugh" I say as I continue to laugh. "Oh" April says as she takes a seat next to me.

Once we had been on the banana bags for six hours Owen let us head home, he knew we were both fully hydrated again and knew we'd be okay. I hollered a cab at the taxi rank and Arizona and I made our way home.

The cab driver dropped us off at the end of our road as there were roadworks so we walked towards the house. The parcel box and mail box both had the little flags down which meant we had mail. I got the mail and Arizona got the parcel and we headed inside. We opened the parcel and it was a collection of cakes. "Congratulations on the marathon! Enjoy the cakes, Mom & Dad" They were off my parents. I called my mom once we had put the cakes onto a plate. We spoke for about an hour before we called it a night.

I got myself into bed and was almost asleep until Arizona kissed me goodnight. "Goodnight gorgeous" I said as I kissed her back. We both slept soundly and still. That marathon knocked us out.
