—You can be better than what is given to you!
—And we believed him.

—It's the middle of April. You'll freeze to death.

The bar was gone. The worry was gone. The hurt no longer mattered. The Woods were ash. All was vanished into a pleasant haze, and Alfonso Ignatius Carr stood alone in the vast expanse, a golden light shining down on his face. There was no Creature, no Bud, no Hand of God to string along the puppets of the world. Only calmness and sense here. A serene sense that no amount of rushing did anyone any good. All was quiet, but not silent. He could hear the warmth and tenderness of infinity all around him. It hugged and loved him, and he knew that he was amongst Everything, and Everything was good.
