Same Day

Kayonna Roshell Bradley

Kavonta held my hand as his friend opened the door. Walking in, I looked around for Ayariah. I don't see her or her things.

"Where's Yari?" I asked.

"Fucking"

"Huh," I said.

Hearing a moan, not long after. I let go of Vonta's hand and followed where it was coming from. As the doorbell rang, I walked down the hall. Not knowing which door to knock on, I waited to hear another moan. Instead of hearing another moan, a few minutes later a door opened. Looking up at Maj, I faked a smile. He nodded his head.

"Wassup"

"Where's Ayariah?" I folded my arms.

"She changing out her dress" he closed the door.

"Mm, y'all fucked?" I squinted my eyes at him.

"Nah" he chuckled.

"I feel like you lying but okay" I turned and headed back to the living room.

"Yo I know I ain't tripping" De yelled.

This nigga is so loud for no reason. He was yelling yesterday at the tattoo shop. Now he yelling in this man's house. I wish he would shut the hell up.

"She a twin, dumb ass," Vonta said lighting up his blunt.

I flicked Trinity's arm when I walked past her. She looked up from her phone for a second. She didn't say anything to me, so I just kept walking. Most people think because we are twins we're close as hell. We were close, but we never stayed in the same household so we don't care too much to be around each other. She stays with our dad, while I'm with our mom.

They didn't make the choice of choosing who would stay with who. When we were 6 they asked us who we loved more. That decided for them. She was always daddy's girl anyway because she was into boyish things when we were little. I've always been really girly, unlike her. She sort of grew out of it, but she is still a tomboy. The only things that never changed were her playing flag football, basketball, and dressing like a boy. But I love my sister either way.

Sitting next to Vonta, he passed me the blunt. Taking a quick pull, I passed it back to him. I don't smoke like that and I don't plan to make it a habit.

"Nigga beat her doonies down"

"Mind yo business nigga" Maj turned on the tv and PlayStation 5.

"You quiet as hell, you good?" Vonta asked me.

I nodded my head. I'm really not. I don't like new spaces. I did that same thing at his house earlier. I just get quiet and observe everything around me.

"You always do this?"

"Yea, I just don't like new spaces" I shrugged.

"Why yeen tell me that before? I would've stayed at my crib with you" he passed the blunt to Heem.

"Cause y'all get together every week and you shouldn't miss it for me" I looked at him.

"Exactly it's every week. We still see each other damn near every day" he chuckled.

Finally looking at me, his gaze travels over my face. Even without touching, I can feel a magnetic pull towards his body. Despite my efforts, my heartbeat quickens and my voice raises a little.

"I guess"

Vonta visibly gulps. Shaking his head, he refocuses his attention somewhere else as the doorbell rings again. This time Jo, Eryss, and another couple walk in.

As this place starts to fill up I become a little uncomfortable. I cross my legs and fold my arms. As if it's noticeable that I'm uncomfortable, Vonta scoots closer to me. I laid my head on his shoulder, watching Eryss happily make her way over to me.

"Why am I here?" Trin mumbled making her way over to me.

"Because you love Yari"

"Not enough to mis- nvm" She glanced at Vonta before finishing her sentence.

Eryss sat next to me and Trin sat in front of me on the floor. Trinity had been sneaking around with this one nigga for the past month or two. She likes him, but she doesn't know if he likes her too.

Anytime he sees her is late night or early morning. Knowing her, I know they already fucked. I just hope she knows that's probably all he wants outta her.  She's a lover girl with a bad temper. But something tells me, he might not be that bad. Who knows... Maybe he's smart enough not to play with her like that.
