Over the past week, I've been in the hospital with my mom. She had gotten worse and I had to rush her to the hospital. I've only left the hospital when Amari was here, but he hates the sight of my mother in the hospital bed. So anytime he or Uzziah comes, I go home to shower and come back. I've been keeping Lyrix with me because her mom went back to Dominica, but never came back. I only leave her home with Amari every other day. It seems like a great idea, but I always regret it cause they call me in a full-on argument over something stupid.
"Tanti, when Nanna going home?" Lyrix looks up from her iPad.
"Hopefully soon, but you going back to the house with Mari later" I mumble before putting a spoonful of rice in my mouth.
"No, I don't like him"
"Girl, that's your uncle. You wanted to be with him so bad a few days ago" I glance over at her.
"Him ugly and need to cut his hair" She shrugs.
"Who need to cut their hair?" Mari walks into the room.
"You" She puts a noodle in her mouth.
"I'll cut your hair"
"Nooo" She shakes her head.
"Ight then leave me alone, midget" He flicks her nose.
"Poopy head" She flicks him off.
"Ouu ma she stuck up her middle finger" Mari sits at the edge of the hospital bed.
"Snitch"
Giggling, I continue to eat my food. Once I look up at Mari, who starts rubbing Mami's feet, I look back down at my plate. He hates feet, so the sight of him rubbing her feet is strange. But I'm not going to say anything.
"She eat anything yet?"
"No. I tried to give her some apple sauce, but she holding it in her mouth" I picked up my phone to see who texted me.

Putting my phone down, I continue to eat my food. Mari picks up a shrimp from my rice and eats it.
"I know you did not" I mugged him.
"I'm hungry too"
"Nigga you was just rubbing her feet" I dropped my spoon in the plate.
"That's yo momma" He shrugs.
