CAM'S POINT OF VIEW

"SHE'S ALWAYS BEEN sensitive at times. Particularly when we'd visit a business partners house, she'd quite often be walking around when she shouldn't, and next thing we knew she'd be frozen, as if in a trance," a deeper voice explained.

Cam avoided Jacobs distasteful gaze, flinching slightly at his father's use of words. It had been at least two years now, and his family all refused to use the correct pronouns. Is it really so hard? He thought glumly as he sat in the uncomfortable, stiff leather chair in Jacobs office.

"So she's got the Touch?" Jacobs inquired, getting a small shrug from Cam's father, "I tend to keep away from agents and their ways, so I'm not entirely sure about the so-called Talents,"

Cam glanced over at his father. His brow was furrowed, and he held a displeased expression, clearly thinking to himself about all the better ways he could be spending this time, instead of sitting here with his lame excuse of a child, trying to sign him up for an agency.

Jacobs frowned, leaning back in his chair as if in thought.

Cam bit the tip of his tongue as the light reflected off of Jacobs balding head, amusing the boy, not that he showed it.

"Well, you seem to come from a well family, and from what I've heard you have some good Talents," Jacobs began speaking to Cam, forcing the boy to remove his eyes from the desk and to look at Jacobs, "However parents can always exaggerate their children's abilities, so only I will be the judge of your talent. But other than that, we have a spot open for you . . . " he glanced at the form in front of him, "Ca-"

"Cam," he corrected him before he could finish, receiving a disapproving look from his father, who then looked at Jacobs yet again, "Is it possible for her to board here?"

Jacobs grunted in response, "If she proves to be of use, then it can be arranged, yes,"

Cam's father nodded his head slightly, "Thank you, Jacobs," he said stiffly, "Mrs. Clarke will get you too sign the paperwork," he instructed, showing no intent to continue any discussions with Cam's father.

I wouldn't want to continue a conversation with him either. Cam thought miserably as he stood up from his chair, following his father as they exited the office.
