CAM'S POINT OF VIEW

THE PAIR WALKED — actually scratch that, because they were walking as if they were in a damn race — down the quiet road swiftly. Ghost lights were the only light source around the street, giving it an eerie green hue.

"Shouldn't we get a cab home?" Cam asked Lockwood, their footsteps in perfect unison. Late night walks weren't ideal ever since the Problem began.

"But it's such a lovely evening for a stroll," It was as though the boy had read his mind and decided to go against what he thought, "Said no one ever,"

There was a silence between as they continued walking down the uncomfortably quiet street, "So, how did you meet Flo?"

"Can't remember. It was ages ago," he answered quickly, not paying the boy's questions much attention. He thought to himself for a second.

"She cares about you, doesn't she?"
"Yeah, she's a worrier that's all," Cam tried to read the boy's face, but there was nothing to read. It was as if he'd put up a wall since they'd left the café.

"Forget about it. We don't know how long it'll be until Carver gets that message. We need to move fast,"

"Yeah, I did say we should get a cab,"

"We're not headed back yet, though,"

Cam frowned, remembering the boys words from earlier that evening, "But it's nearly midnight? George will be waiting for us. So will Luce and Annie at that matter,"

"The three of them will be delighted when we bring back the mirror,"

Cam slowed down behind the boy as he realised what the boy was going to get them to do, "Winkman's? Didn't you hear what we said earlier?"

"You heard what Barnes said, that thing is lethal. Who knows whose hands it could end up in tomorrow. Plus, it's easier to break in and steal things at night. Plus it's on our way,"

Truth be told, breaking into one of his fathers associates may not be the most pleasant idea to spend his night, but at the same time, the idea of being able to successfully do so without getting caught seemed fun? That didn't seem like the right word.
Plus, if Winkman really did have the mirror, it wouldn't come to much of a surprise if his father was already on his way to pick it up.

So why not take it before he can?

Cam sighed quietly under his breath, before he picked up the pace again, matching his stride with Lockwood's again.

The light's slowly got darker as they walked through a rundown tunnel, which led to the corner where Winkman's shop was situated.

The taller brunette looked down at him, "I thought I'd have to convince you to join me," he commented aloud, making Cam grin, "Why not give him a little surprise?"
