Monday was JJ's first case back at work since her 'episode', and Emily was rather worried about her.

She knew that she would be fine, but she often wondered if JJ was putting on a front again. What if she was really still struggling but just didn't want to show it?

The first couple days of the case went okay. JJ was distant and snapped easily, but nobody could blame her.

By the last day of the case everyone was exhausted and ready to go home. They all boarded the jet and mainly kept to themselves, not having the energy to talk to anyone.

About an hour into the flight, Emily got up from her seat and slid into the one next to JJ's. "I don't want to talk," JJ said instantly, turning her head towards the window.

"That's fine, I just wanted to sit next to you," Emily said. "Want me to leave?"

JJ looked down at her feet. "No," she said softly.

"Why don't you try and get some sleep? It's late and you seem tired," Emily told her.

JJ nodded. She shut her eyes and leaned her head against the window. As she was about to fall asleep, she felt Emily pull her closer. Her head moved to rest on Emily's shoulder.

Emily kissed the top of her head lightly, keeping her arm wrapped around her waist. "We're at work," JJ mumbled, her eyes still closed.

"The whole team is asleep. It's not the end of the world if one of them sees me kiss my wife," Emily smiled, pressing another kiss behind her ear.

JJ laughed softly as she started to drift off to sleep again. Resting against Emily was much more comfortable than the window, and she slept a lot better.

When the jet landed, everyone was quick to say goodbye and head home.

"Em?" JJ asked, looking up from the car window as they drove back to their house. "Yeah?" Emily responded. She glanced over at JJ in the passenger seat quickly, before turning her eyes back to the road.

JJ opened her mouth like she was going to say something, but nothing came out. "Never mind. It's not important," she said, turning to look back out the window.

Emily wished JJ would just tell her what was on her mind, but she knew she shouldn't push. She reached over and placed her hand on JJ's.

When they got home, JJ quickly showered and crawled into bed. Emily leaned over and pressed a kiss to her cheek. "Do you want anything to eat?"

"I'm tired. I'm just going to go to bed," JJ replied, turning on her side. Her wet hair dripped down onto the pillow.

"Alright. I'll be back in a minute," Emily told her. She gently squeezed JJ's shoulder before getting up and going downstairs.

While she was down there she heard her phone ringing. She answered the phone and realized it was Mary. She hadn't heard from her in two weeks, since she took Mia.

"Mary? Is everything okay?" Emily asked, picking up. "Hey, Emily, everything's okay," she reassured her. "I was just hoping to talk to you about something."

"Of course. What's going on?" Emily said. "Mia has just been talking about you and JJ a lot the past couple of weeks. She really misses you. I was wondering if you guys would like to meet sometime, maybe at the park? I just think that if she could spend a little time with you guys it would be good," Mary told her.

Emily thought about it for a moment. "We miss her too, I'd love to see her. I'll talk to JJ tomorrow, I'm sure we could work something out," she said.

"That's great to hear, Mia will be so excited. Thank you," Mary said. "No problem, I'm sure it will be fun for everyone," Emily smiled.

After she hung up the phone, she went back upstairs. She went into the bedroom to tell JJ, but when she got closer she realized JJ was already asleep.

She didn't want to wake her since she could always tell her tomorrow. Instead, she climbed into bed next to her and soon fell asleep herself.

The next day was Saturday so everyone was off work. Emily had talked to JJ in the morning, and they agreed to meet Mary at a park near both of their houses.

JJ was thrilled at the chance to see Mia again. Emily was happy too, of course, but she was also slightly worried if this would cause a problem. JJ wasn't too friendly with Mary the first time they met.

That afternoon Emily drove to the park. She parked the car and walked with JJ to the playground area.

They both saw Mia sitting on a bench next to Mary. "Mama!" Mia shouted when she saw them. She hopped off the bench and ran towards them.

"Hey!" JJ smiled, scooping her up off the ground. "I've missed you."

Emily watched JJ's face light up when she talked to Mia. It broke her heart a little, knowing that in just a couple hours they'd have to leave again.

Mia took JJ's hand and started to drag her towards the playground. "Come on!" she exclaimed, looking to Emily.

"I'll be there in one second. I just have to talk to Mary for a moment," Emily said, touching her cheek. "Don't have too much fun without me."

Mia agreed, taking JJ over to the slide while Emily went over to the bench.

"Thank you for setting this up. It means a lot to us," Emily said to Mary, looking back over to JJ. "Is Mia doing okay?"

"She's doing well enough. She misses you guys a lot, she talks about you all the time. It's just hard for both of us. I never thought I would have a kid," Mary told her. "We're just getting used to it."

"I'm glad she's okay. If you ever need anything, feel free to call me," said Emily. "Thank you," replied Mary. "We should set something up like this again. It looks like she's having a lot of fun," she said, looking over at Mia laughing.

After talking for a couple more minutes, Emily went and joined Mia and JJ in the sandbox.

"You talked for too long!" she groaned, grabbing Emily's hand. "We have to play!"

"Yeah, Emily," JJ mocked. "Stop talking so much. We have playing to do."

Emily laughed and tickled JJ's side, making her squeal. "I see this is very serious. What are we doing?" Emily asked.

"Ice cream shop!" Mia shouted, handing Emily a cup full of sand.

Emily looked over to JJ. "This is a lot of ice cream. I think we're going to have to share," she said, holding it out to her. "Go ahead, take a bite."

The three spent the rest of the time at the park running around and playing. For the first time in a while, Emily watched JJ seem genuinely happy.
