Emily sat on the foot of the hotel bed, waiting for JJ to finish getting ready. It was Thursday morning and they were in Seattle on a case. They'd left Lyla with the babysitter that used to watch Mia, so they knew they could trust her.

"Jayje, we're going to be late," Emily sighed, looking down at her watch. JJ came out of the bathroom and rolled her eyes without saying anything.

She'd been in a bad mood all morning, and Emily wasn't exactly sure what it was about. All she knew is that they were going to be late if they didn't leave soon.

"Put on your shoes, let's go," Emily said, grabbing her bag. "What do you think I'm doing right now?" JJ scoffed, as she slipped on her second shoe.

"Stop being a brat. We're leaving," Emily said, grabbing JJ's bag as well. "I'm not. You're being annoying," she responded, snatching her bag out of Emily's hand.

"Why're you so grumpy? Are you on your period or something?" Emily asked her.

JJ socked her in the stomach with her purse. "That's rude! You can't say that to a woman!" she said angrily.

"Ow!" Emily complained, grabbing JJ's bag back so she couldn't hit her again. "Sorry, forget I said anything!" She put her hands up in defense.

JJ was fuming as she walked behind Emily out of their hotel room. Emily turned around in the hallway, and grabbed JJ's waist. "You've got about ten minutes to fix your attitude before we get to work," she said, planting a kiss on top of her head.

"I love you," she added, hoping that might lighten her mood a bit. She also hoped that it would keep JJ from murdering her when they got back home.

The case was solved that day and the team was on the jet heading home by seven pm. JJ had been distant the whole day to almost everyone. Emily knew that she was just upset over nothing, and she'd get over it quickly.

JJ sat alone in a window seat and slept the entire flight. Everyone was rather quiet, not wanting to wake her up. Even when she was in a good mood, they still didn't like to wake her up.

She was still fast asleep when the jet landed. Emily had to wake her up and drag her into the car, as she was still half asleep.

When it was time to get out of the car, JJ actually had to wake up. She went silently inside and got in the shower.

Emily paid the babysitter and she headed out. Lyla had been put down for the night hours ago. Emily went and checked on her but she was still out cold.

She was in their bedroom changing into her pajamas when JJ walked out of the bathroom. She sat in bed and brushed her wet hair, still not saying a word.

"Are you still mad?" Emily finally asked, starting to take off her jewelry.

"Yes, I'm still mad," JJ responded. "You were saying that just because I was in a bad mood that means I'm on my period. That's insulting, and misogynistic, and giving into hurtful stereotypes!"

"You realize you're married to a woman, right?" Emily asked, sitting down next to her.

"You're acting like a man. Me getting upset doesn't mean that I'm on my period," JJ argued, crossing her arms. "You're being mean!" she added, her eyes watering.

Emily wrapped her arms around her, letting JJ rest her chin on her shoulder. "I'm sorry, love. You can be grumpy whenever you want to be," she smiled, kissing her cheek.

"Yeah, I can," JJ responded. A tear streamed down her face and Emily wiped it away with her thumb. "If I asked if you were crying because you're on your period right now, would you punch be in the face?" Emily asked, cracking a small smile.

"I hate you!" JJ whined, flopping down to lay in bed.

Emily laughed and rubbed her back. "Seriously, why are you crying?" she asked.

"I have really bad cramps," she sighed.

Emily couldn't help but burst out laughing. "You gave me all that hell, and you really are on your period?"

JJ giggled softly. "I had to teach you a lesson. You really can't say things like that," she shrugged.

Emily bent over and kissed her behind the ear. "I'm sorry I hurt you feelings, even though I was right."

"That is not an apology," JJ said, rolling over onto her back. "Will you go get me some ice cream?"

"Look who's following a stereotype now," Emily pointed out. JJ frowned. "The fact that I'm craving sugar isn't a stereotype. It has scientific evidence," she said.

"And there's scientific evidence behind why you have a terrible attitude when you're on your period, yet I'm not allowed to say that," Emily grinned.

JJ grabbed a pillow and chucked it at her face. "Go get me ice cream."

Emily stood up. "You act like this when you're on your period and then blame me for asking!" she said, shaking her head as she went downstairs.

She got JJ a bowl of ice cream and also made her a hot water bottle. She went back upstairs and got back into bed next to JJ.

"I like that you still love me even when I'm a bitch," she said, putting the water bottle on her stomach.

"Of course I do, you're my bitch," Emily chuckled.

JJ toppled over to the side and shook with laugher. "You are so not funny!" she groaned.

Emily took the bowl of ice cream and stole a couple bites. JJ sat up and grabbed it back. "Hands off," she said. "Mine."

"So you're allowed to steal my coffee, but I can't have any of your ice cream?" Emily asked her. "These rules are confusing."

"It seems like you've got it down to me," JJ shrugged. "You could've gotten yourself some, and you didn't. Your fault, not mine."

"You're insane," Emily said, pulling her closer. JJ let her head fall into the crook of Emily's neck.

JJ grabbed the remote and switched on the tv. "Let's watch Psych!" she exclaimed.

Emily had no intention of arguing with her about anything at the moment, so she happily agreed and let JJ turn on the show.

About fifteen minutes in they hear Lyla start to cry on the baby monitor. JJ was half asleep again, but started to get up.

"Hey, it's fine. I'll get her," Emily said, carefully getting up and laying JJ back in bed.

Emily went into the nursery and picked Lyla up. She stopped crying almost instantly, but was very clearly hungry. She was young enough that she still ate through the night. She took her downstairs and quickly heated up a bottle for her.

Emily took her back upstairs and got back into bed, holding Lyla while she sucked on her bottle.

JJ moved back into her position of leaning up against Emily, while the show still played in the background. "Hi, baby," she cooed, touching her little cheek.

JJ cuddled closer to Emily and her eyes started to drift shut again. As Lyla finished off the bottle, she began to fall asleep too.

Emily just sat there for a while, holding both of them. She wished she could stay there forever.
