"Go sit on the couch," JJ said as her an Emily walked into the house. It was late at night and they were finally back from the weeks case.

"I'm not a dog," Emily replied, smiling.

"I said sit!" JJ ordered, pointing at the couch.

Emily laughed to herself, shaking her head as she walked over to the couch. She sat down and watched JJ walk to the bathroom to get the first aid kit.

She came back and sat on the couch next to Emily. "Give me your hand," she said, taking out the gauze.

"Jayje, it's really not bad. It'll heal up on its own in a couple of days," Emily tried to tell her. On the case, she had gotten into a bit of a scrap with the unsub. Luckily, it was just her hand that was a bit bruised. On his end, it was the whole face.

"Will you be quiet and let me help you!" JJ sighed, frustrated with Emily's need to be so independent.

"Yes ma'am," Emily smirked, pulling JJ closer and pressing a kiss to her jawline.

"Good. Stay still," JJ told her. She cleaned Emily's hand with rubbing alcohol and wrapped it in gauze. "It could be broken. You should've gone to the hospital."

"Ah, I know what a broken hand feels like. This isn't it," Emily told her. JJ didn't argue much because she knew there was no point. Emily didn't like hospitals.

"I'm going to go make dinner," JJ said, standing up.

Emily began to get up to help her, but JJ stopped her. "Emily, if you don't sit your ass back on that couch I'm going to break your hand myself," she stated.

"So bossy," Emily murmured, putting her hands up in defense. "It's just a few bruises."

"Stay there. Don't move," JJ said as she walked into the kitchen.

Emily laughed softly. She thought it was funny how protective JJ was being. She was overcompensating, Emily could very much tell, but she found it cute.

When JJ was done cooking dinner she served it onto two plates and brought it over to the couch.

They ate together while watching a movie. When they were done, they both headed upstairs and got ready for bed.

JJ laid down next to Emily, curling up close to her. "Are you sure you don't need anything?" she asked again.

"I'm fine. Thank you, love," Emily told her. "Really? I can get you more pain medicine? I just want to help you," JJ sighed.

"I don't need anything. You don't have to worry so much, I'm okay," Emily tried to tell her. She didn't want JJ to stress herself out too much.

"You've taken care of me forever. It's the least I can do to make it up to you," JJ said softly. Emily was there for her when she couldn't even get out of bed. How could she ever be as good a wife as Emily was?

Emily pulled JJ on to her so they were face. "I take care of you because I love you. You don't have to make that up to me. You don't owe me anything." She gently kissed JJ's nose.

"You do so much for me. I want to do things for you too. It's not fair that you're giving me so much and I give you nothing back," she said, tracing her fingers over Emily features. It was a funny thing she did whenever Emily held her in this position.

"Giving me nothing back?" Emily laughed. "You do more for me than you'll ever know. I wouldn't be who I am if I didn't have you. I don't want you to worry about 'repaying' me. That's all bullshit. We're married and we love each other."

"You should still let me take care of you. Because I love you," JJ told her. Emily smiled at her. "If that's what makes you happy."

She let JJ move down and snuggle into her chest. "I love you, sweetheart. Goodnight," she whispered, kissing JJ's head. "Goodnight," JJ whispered softly.

"How's your hand feel?" JJ asked the next morning, brining Emily a cup of coffee. "It feels fine. Barely hurts anymore," she told her. It was definitely a bit sore, but Emily was never one to admit that.

"Can I ask you a question?" JJ asked, sitting cross legged next to her on the couch. "Ask away," Emily replied.

JJ fiddled with her t-shirt. "Do you really think we're going to find James? Or do you think he's really gone?"

Emily was quiet. "What makes you think that?" she asked. It was true they hadn't made much progress on him, but in Emily's mind she was always sure they'd get him eventually.

"I heard Hotch and Rossi talking on the jet last night. Everyone else was asleep, they thought I was too. Rossi said that he thinks Collins is gone for good, and that we weren't going to get him. Hotch thought the same, and he said he didn't want to tell me," JJ said.

"We're going to catch him," Emily stated. That's what she'd been saying for months now, and JJ wasn't sure if she could believe it anymore.

"He could be out of the country by now. I don't want you to lie because you think it'll make me feel better," JJ sighed. Her hopes of them finding Collins got smaller and smaller every day that passed.

"You really want me to tell you the truth? The truth is scary sometimes," Emily warned her. "I want you to tell me," JJ said instantly. She couldn't live in the dark. Not with this.

"I don't think that he would've fled the country, because he's too obsessed with you. I've looked into his file, I've talked to his friends. He won't go far because he doesn't want to let you go. Soon we're going to find something, or he's going to slip up, and we're going to catch him," Emily told her.

JJ felt her heart sink. "You think he's still here? He's still watching me?" she asked softly.

"I don't know," Emily admitted. "I do know that he's not going to hurt you again. I'm not letting you out of my sight until he's dead."

"I'm so sick of this. What if we don't catch him for years? What are we going to do, just live forever in fear?" JJ asked, frustrated.

In most situations, a case like this with no new evidence would be considered cold. JJ could now fully understand why this was so hard for a victim's family to accept.

"You'll learn not to be afraid. I know it doesn't feel like that, but you will. If you feel scared, just remember that he can't hurt you. I won't let him," Emily said. She'd do anything to make JJ feel safe.

She wished that she could actually guarantee that.
