The day after the resounding failure of their espionage mission, both of them decided to strategically meet Sakura at a café at noon, just outside the cafeteria where passersby could see them. Today, they were going to use the ultimate weapon, as they say, in war and love everything is fair. They had to steer the girls away before it was too late and their sons became interested in some other girl who wasn't Sakura. But first, of course, they had to have a snack with their favorite daughter-in-law to clear their minds. The two mothers were the first to arrive, so they took the opportunity to tidy up their hair and clothes to look presentable.
"Sorry for the delay!" Sakura exclaimed, panting after running to the café.
"No problem, Sakura," Kushina responded as the pink-haired girl took a seat.
"How was breakfast yesterday?" Mikoto asked cheerfully.
Kushina sharply turned her face towards her best friend/archenemy, trying to figure out which breakfast she was talking about that she wasn't aware of, until the answer was given by Sakura. Her cheeks turned red and she lowered her head shyly.
"Th-thank you very much, Mikoto-san."
Poor Kushina nearly fell off her chair when she saw Mikoto make a movement behind her. They were on a truce! Well, if that was the case, then it didn't matter if she cheated a little next time.
"I'm sure my Sasuke was very gallant," she winked.
This time, Sakura turned as red as a tomato.
"Ah, yes. He was with Kakashi-sensei when we met Sasuke-kun at noon. Th-thank you," she stammered.
Definitely, Kushina was going to kill Mikoto.
"Hey, Sakura-chan," Kushina called out to her while, under the table, she stepped on Mikoto's foot so she wouldn't speak, "my clumsy son is grounded again. Maybe you should stop by the house so he's not so alone."
Sakura snorted, not surprised that Naruto was grounded. It was so normal that she didn't even ask why he had been grounded this time.
"I'll drop by after my shift at the hospital ends."
The three women started chatting. It had been a while since they had taken a moment to chat among the three of them. Of course, the two mothers were having a great time, almost as if they had reached an oasis after so long in the desert. Almost sixty-two hours without sitting down for tea, chatting with Sakura, and eating some snacks. It had been torture!
From the periphery, Kushina saw the long, dark hair of the person who, according to her informants, was going to pass by here right now.
"Sakura, isn't that your friend?" Kushina asked almost casually.
When Sakura turned to see who she was referring to, her emerald eyes lit up. After all, she was trying to get her friend to conquer her blond friend.
"It's Hinata."
Kushina almost twisted right there. They knew the pink-haired girl like the back of their hand, so with just one look, they could see what she was thinking. With a forced smile, they decided to ignore that horrible blow to their pride and their urge to scream at the pink-haired girl that it's her they want as their daughter-in-law.
"Why don't you invite her? It's nice to meet new faces," Kushina suggested, while Mikoto started to feel pain in her ribs as she tried to contain her laughter, seeing Kushina's smile becoming more and more strained as she attempted to suppress her explosive anger.
"Really?" Sakura asked with enthusiasm, while Kushina's smile seemed increasingly forced as she tried to quell her explosive anger.
"Yes," Kushina replied with an overly cheerful tone.
