He quickly pulls away as i turn to him more sternly this time
"I need to win. You want to survive." i say as he frowns at me, well i didn't really mean it i guess i wanted him to listen just this time to get himself some sponsors
"and who says i want to survive, darling?"he replies winking
I blush bright red at the nickname before grabbing his hand as we walk up to some little girls..about 4 and 6
"hello girls!" i say happily as they smile
"is he your boyfriend?" the little girl asks as i smile brightly as i link our arms together
i pretend to whisper to the girls though treech could still hear "i hope so..he's kind of cute" the two girls run off giggling as he turns to me amused
"kinda cute? seriously capitol?" he asks with a frown
"i don't like that nickname." i admit
"what? liked when i called you darling? cuz i have a few more you might like" he winks as i turn to see lucky flicker man
was he filming our conversation?
"well hello lucky!" i smile
"well hello aurelia! seems like you met your tribute already! but i do have a question for him." he puts the microphone next to treeches face
"how do you feel about your mentor Aurelia Vella?" he asks
"well.." treech looks me up and down before putting an arm around my shoulder and hugging me close "she's very beautiful and clearly extremely sweet consider how she's bought me and my partner some snacks!" he replies
I blush a light pink hearing his compliments as i feel two arms grab me
"oh! well treech your going to have to say goodbye to your mentor as she and coriolanus snow are being whisked away!" lucky exclaims
Next thing i know i'm sat in the academy hall with coriolanus snow and dr gaul as she barates us
"I'm having you both disqualified as mentors." she states
"well you told us to take care of our tributes and to keep them alive!" i argue
"you were in violation of the school rules!" she shouts
"it doesn't say that in the school books!" i argue, i cant be allowing the capitol to force treech go into the games without a mentor
"please, dr gaul me and clemensia have some ideas for the games, i promise they'll be good! don't disqualify us.." coriolanus pleads
"fine." dr gaul says as she walks out the room
"now why does she comply with you so easily?" i complain
Coriolanus shrugs his shoulders as we leave the room, i feel abit upset still though..how on earth and i supposed to keep him alive?
*TIME SKIP*
Arachne finally arrives at the academy and i was forced to change into 'regular school wear'
I felt like i had to wait forever, apparently she had to pick the right 'blush shade' for school but whatever
We walk over to the canteen as we sit down chatting about our lives as we take our food, i grab 3 chocolate brownies as i start to speak
"hey how about we go visit the tributes..you need to see arachne and i'm gonna give treech some food!" i say
"your seriously going to waste a perfectly good brownie on him?" she scoffs as i frown
"come on let go!" i say as we start to walk toward ms the capitol zoo
*TIME SKIP*
As we enter the zoo the crowd of people start to make way for the two of us, i see coriolanus talking to lucy gray as sejanus tries to grab the attention of his tribute
The smell fills the air as arachne grimaces
"ew i don't even want to be here." she says
Me and arachne separate as i walk to the right and she does towards the left
I stand around the bars "treech!" i shout calling for him, he turns back staring at me as he looks away not wanting to talk to me
"treech please! i need to talk to you.." i shout as i see lamina push his forearm encouraging him to talk to me
He slowly walks up to me with a raised eyebrow
"what? didn't know you were this needy.." he says as i stare at him in disbelief
I hear a shout "Aurelia, can we switch! my girl from 10 keeps talking about killing—hogs or whatever!" arachne shouts as brandy her tribute lowers her gaze
"Arachne—shes human, you need to get to know her better.." i say back
"anyways what did you mean when you said you needed to win earlier?" he asks
"well basically whoever tributes win the hunger games basically wins a prize like cash money.." i admit as he scoffs
"so your doing this for money, god i thought some of the people here were normal..guess all y'all here for money." he rolls his eyes
"no! i promise i don't need the money i just want you to win, go home and you know..just don't listen to me" i start to ramble on
"anyways! uhm here i've got brownies for you and lamina to have.." i put my hand out but he doesn't grab it
instead he looks to the side nodding for me to look
it was arachne taunting her tribute with a glass bottle of water pulling it back every time her tribute tries to grab it
"your friend over there has a death wish..brandy there is some feisty girl.." he says
"she's my best friend. she's nicer when you get to know her." i try defend her though whatever she currently is doing doesn't really help my case..
"whatever you say capitol.." he puts his arms up like he's surrendering to something
"i told you i don't like that nickname.." i complain
"okay babe." he says biting into a brownie
i roll my eyes sarcastically "are they nice?" he nods
"here have one..better if we both eat." he admits as i shake my head
"capitol, i've seen you eat nothing..come on—for me?" he smiles brightly
i sigh as i give in as we start eating brownies together in scilence..guess he still isn't too fond of me..
All of a sudden, i hear an ear piercing scream erupt.
Treech and I turn our heads to see arachne laying on the ground hands wrapped around her neck, brandy had stabbed her with the bottle
I succumb to a state of shock..no—that's my bestfriend, my eyes start pouring with tears as my hand slaps against my mouth
"go treech! hide with lamina now!" i shout before running towards arachne at the same time as coriolanus
I hold her in my arms as my tears are still pouring "stay with me arachne..please." i beg but to no hope
it's futile..she's gone.
The last thing she saw was my face and i felt heart broken..She was rushed into the emergency center as i ran with hoping for a miracle and maybe just maybe she would survive this
