6 months in the glade

As the days turned into weeks, Y/N's mastery over her newfound powers grew with each passing night. Under the cover of darkness, she practiced relentlessly, honing her abilities to move objects with precision and control. Yet, despite her progress, Y/N remained vigilant about keeping her powers hidden from the other gladers, fearing their reaction if they were to discover her secret.

Meanwhile, her late-night rendezvous with Gally at the watchtower had become a regular occurrence. Under the cloak of night, they found solace in each other's company, sharing intimate conversations and revealing pieces of themselves they had kept hidden from the world. As they confided in each other, their connection grew stronger, fueled by unspoken feelings that neither of them dared to acknowledge openly.

During the day, as they went about their tasks, Y/N and Gally would steal glances at each other when they thought no one else was looking. Their interactions were subtle, hidden from the rest of the gladers, but Newt, ever perceptive when it came to his sister, noticed the exchanged looks between them.

One sunny afternoon, as preparations were underway for the arrival of a new greenie the next day, Newt approached Y/N and gently confronted her about the unspoken tension between her and Gally. They found a shaded spot under a tree, the warm rays of sunlight filtering through the leaves above them, creating dappled patterns on the ground.

"You know, I've noticed those glances between you and Gally," Newt remarked casually, his eyes twinkling with mischief.

Y/N's eyes widened, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. She stammered, "Wh-what glances? I don't know what you're talking about."

Newt chuckled, recognizing his sister's attempt to deflect. He leaned in, his voice low and teasing. "Come on, Y/N. I've known you for long enough to see when there's something going on. Are you and Gally dating?"

Caught off guard, Y/N felt her heart race. She fidgeted with a loose strand of grass, avoiding Newt's gaze. "No, no, we're not dating. It's just... I don't know, Newt. We're friends, and things are complicated."

Newt leaned back against the trunk of the tree, a playful glint in his eyes. "I can tell you like each other, though."

Y/N's denial was swift but lacked conviction. "No, it's not like that. Gally isn't interested in me."

Newt chuckled softly, seeing through her attempt to deflect the conversation. "Ah, but you didn't deny that you don't like him," he teased.

Caught off guard, Y/N felt her blush deepen as she averted her gaze. After a moment of silence, she admitted in a hushed tone, "Well, I do... like him."

Newt's smile was gentle and understanding as he regarded his sister, his eyes reflecting a warmth that belied his calm demeanour. "You know, Y/N, I think Gally likes you too," he remarked, his voice filled with a hint of amusement.

Y/N's blush deepened at Newt's words, a mixture of embarrassment and excitement coursing through her veins. She stole a glance across the glade, where Gally stood with his usual scowl painted on his face that softened into a small smile as their eyes met.

A surge of warmth filled Y/N's chest at the sight, her heart fluttering with newfound hope. She turned back to Newt, a shy smile playing on her lips as she absorbed his encouraging words.

"Do you really think so?" she asked, her voice tinged with uncertainty.

Newt nodded reassuringly. "I've known Gally for a while now, and trust me, I've seen the way he looks at you. It's pretty obvious," he replied, his tone laced with certainty.
