Daniel and I giggled as I bounced him on my lap while singing a little Spanish song that doesn't even make sense,Daniel loved it though
No matter how old he is,he's still my baby boy and I'm always gonna be his mama.I carried him as I got up from the couch,knocks were heard on my front door
Lexi is working late tonight so she shouldn't be here plus she would've sent a text or called to let me know she was coming over
I walked over with Daniel's head laying on my collar bone,I pulled open the door seeing my brothers "oh lord" I mumbled
Daniel gasped
"What's up chica!" Carlos says while raising his hands,i playfully rolled my eyes "we haven't come over in a while"
"Yeah I know but at this time? I'm not cooking or anything" I said,josh scoffed
"You're funny,you forgot your brothers eat everything-hey niño" he says as he tickled Daniel making him laugh
I let my brothers in before closing the door behind them,they sat down on the couch "give me my boy"Josh said
"Excuse me? This is my boy" I joked
"He's my blood so it's still my boy-don't argue with me give him to me!" He says raising his voice a bit,I laugh before handing Daniel to him
"Hey Chico" Carlos said while gently pinching his cheeks "aye you need anything?" He puts his attention back on me
"Uh no I'm good thanks,work is going good for me I haven't gotten paid yet but the end of this week I should" I told him,he nodded while rubbing his hands together
"Hey we're very proud of you alright?" Carlos says,I nodded while playing with my rings
Playing with my rings is a habit when I'm nervous or anxious or It distracts me from my real feelings
"Thanks guys" I said,Carlos and I glance over at josh who was making faces with Daniel.Joshua then felt eyes causing him to look up
"What? Stop staring at me alright" he says making his accent clear,Carlos chuckled as he pat his brother's shoulder
"So there's this guy at work-
"Oh no" Carlos calmly says,I made a confused expression "it's foot locker,good looking people work there"
"Yeah but I was a customer first and he's sweet-
"Didn't you say you don't want a relationship because of what happened to the last asshole?" Josh said,Carlos smacked his chest "oh my bad,the last..villain?"
Carlos and I laughed while shaking our head "yeah don't worry I'm still on that,I told him to not get his hopes up"
"What's the kid's name?" Carlos asks
"Miguel"
"He's Mexican for sure" josh commented,I scoffed
"Yeah how did you know?"
"It's the name chica,it's obvious" Carlos says as josh nodded "but I like him already,he works and is Mexican.he's sweet according to you"
"He also called Daniel cute" I told them while crossing my arms
"Yup he's into you" josh commented while playing with Daniel's fingers
"Really?"
"You're not stupid y/n,he's clearly into you but poor dude is gonna waste his time" Carlos says while laying back,I raised my eyebrows as I sat beside josh
"He's the happiest boy ever" josh says referring to Daniel,I chuckled "that used to be you" he turns to me
"Yeah before you know who came around" Carlos commented
"Can we not talk about him please" I said,the brothers shared a look
"Sorry chica" Carlos said,I took Daniel from josh placing him in my arms
"I got to put him to bed anyways,you guys can order food or whatever.I'll be back" i sternly spoke before leaving them there as I made my way upstairs
THE NEXT DAY
I scoffed while grabbing the two empty pizza boxes from the coffee table,I glanced at my brother that were sound asleep on my big couch
"Hey!" I shouted making them jump "I got work so get ouuuut" i smoothly say while pointing to the door
They both groaned before lazily getting up "you're so mean" josh whined making me smile
"See ya chica" Carlos says as he closed the door behind them,i shook my head
TIME SKIP
I put my name tag around my neck before walking out the back,I sighed as I stretch my legs knowing I'm gonna stand all day
We only sit on our breaks which are only 30 minutes but we make the best of it "morning sunshine" Thomas says as he bit his bottom lip
I just raised my eyebrows as a response since he's already annoying me,miguel then walked into the store "morning Tom" he dryly says
He looks up seeing me,his face completely changes "morning" he lightly smiled
"Morning Mikey" I say while placing my hands on my hips,he walked into the back to get situated as I walked to the registers where Thomas was
Miguel came out the back,came over to the register to clock in "how's the little guy?" He asked.I find it nice that he asks for Daniel without even knowing him besides that one time I came here as a customer
"He's good,he's with his godmother" I told him,he nodded before looking back at me
"You like it here so far?" He asks,I nodded after shrugging
"It's okay" I said,he chuckled
"So I spoke to Martin and he's gonna put us on the same shifts for now" he tells me,I raised a brow "I don't know it was his call"
"Are you sure it wasn't you?" I teased,he stepped a bit closer
"I mean i wouldn't mind seeing that face everyday" he whispered before walking past me,i bit my tongue I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't get into another relationship but he's making it difficult for me
Customers started rolling in and the three of us began working,the day was going good so far until this one guy came in asking for shoes but kept switching it up
I had to keep going to the back to get different shoes in the same sizes "nah I don't think this will match with my clothes,can I see the third one again?"
I sighed trying to calm my inner anger "of course" I say as I began walking but miguel who was next to me listening to the whole thing stopped me in my tracks by grabbing my wrist
I turned to him "come back here" he told me,I walked back to the register while looking confused "you're not gonna keep going back and forth,I got it"
"Um hello where's my shoe?" The guy says now getting angry,miguel pulled me behind him
"She's shown you every shoe in this store and we don't like wasting our time so pick a damn shoe so she can you ring out,we have more customers to worry about" he demanded
The guy just stared before looking back at me "like the sixth one" he muttered,I slowly nodded as I placed the sixth box in the bag after ringing him out
The guy left as I turn to miguel "thank you" I said,he raised his eyebrows before smiling
"Anytime"
The tension is crazy (I wish)
