Imagine: The Doctor finding out you're alive after seeing your clone die.

The Doctor's POV:

There was nothing I could do. She was struggling against the Cybermen as hard as she could, but they didn't even budge.

"[Y/N]!" I shouted, my voice straining as I fought against the Cybermen holding me back, "Let her go! I demand you let her go!"

"You will be silent," one of the emotionless machines replied, making me grit my teeth together.

"If you hurt her, I swear-"

"Help me!" [Y/N]'s screams rendered me quiet.

"No...no!" I struggled against my captors, but with no prevail. "[Y/N]! No..."

"Upgrade in progress," the metallic voice echoed through my mind as everything came to a screeching holt.

"I'm so sorry..." I breathed, trying to blink back the tears gathering in my eyes, "I'm so, so sorry, [Y/N]..."

I had to squeezed my eyes shut. I couldn't bear watching her...my [Y/N]...being turned into one of those horrific monsters. I tried to block out the terrible screams that filled the air, but they only grew louder, like they were tormenting me.

"Stop it!" I shouted, "Make it stop!"

And like that, it did. The screams dissipated. The roaring of the atrocious machines became eerily quiet. The two Cybermen that were gripping my arms suddenly fell to their knees and gripped their heads, crying out, along with the others.

"What...what's going on?" I breathed, pulling out my sonic screwdriver. I scanned the Cyberman to my left and frowned, "Complete neuron shutdown. But how is that possible? That shouldn't be possible!"

"I did it," a familiar voice called, making me spin around. It was a woman, who I had recognized immediately. She was being held captive here on the Cybermen's ship, and she was due to be upgraded at anytime, she had told me.

"How did you do that?" I stepped towards her, "It's impossible."

"I...I don't know," she shook her head, obviously frightened.

I sighed and ran a hand through my hair, "What's your name?"

"Lynn," she introduced softly,

"Right. Lynn. How long have you been here?"

"A week, at most," she gulped.

"A week? That's not near long enough for someone, especially a human, to learn their away around Cybermen technology. They're far to advanced. Who are you, Lynn?"

"I-I...I don't know!" she exclaimed, making me raise an eyebrow, "All I know is that I'm going to be upgraded!"

I eyed her, "Why was [Y/N] upgraded before you, Lynn? What did you do?"

"What? I didn't do anything!" she backed up as I stepped towards her, "I promise! I just want to leave this place!"

I closed my eyes, trying to calm myself down, "You made sure she went first, didn't you? To save yourself time."

Lynn let out a sob, making me snap my eyes open, "I'm sorry..."

It felt like everything was slowing down. Like everything in the Universe was coming to a stop. I couldn't think straight. A billion thoughts were running through my head, and there was nothing I could do about it. I was at a complete loss at what to do. I wanted to be angry at this woman. This woman who had practically ended [Y/N]'s life, who had done it just to save her own. But I couldn't. Lynn probably had a family. A husband, children even. She was probably just thinking of them.
