Imagine: The Doctor comforting you when you feel homesick.
It's been months since I first stepped into this marvelous blue box. It never failed to amaze me when I walked through the endless corridors, discovering its many rooms. There was everything imaginable! A pool, a beautiful library, even a whole room dedicated to Earth. I liked that room. It reminded me of my home, my family...I haven't seen them in a very long time. I'll admit, for the first few weeks onboard the TARDIS, I had forgotten all about my old life. Everything was going so fast. Between the Doctor and the adventures, I was an all new person.Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't trade this life for anything. I love it here, onboard this ancient ship. It was my new home, I suppose. I even had my own room, the kind of room I only ever dreamed about, and it was amazing. Really, it was. But...I'm still allowed to miss how things used to be, right? I felt so selfish when a sudden bout of homesickness hit me, because I could go back. I could go back to my planet and see my family and friends again. I was just scared to tell them where I've been, who I'm with, or what I've been doing! I know for a fact that they wouldn't understand all of this, even if they wanted to.
But the Doctor? He had told me what had happened to his people. How he had to end the biggest war in all of the cosmos, but at a cost. His home, his family, his planet. He would give anything to go back, and that was why I felt so bad about my stupid little worries. I didn't want to admit to him that I was homesick, because he is too. The only difference was, he couldn't be helped.
"Are you even listening?" his thick northern accent pulled my thoughts.
"Hmm? No," I shook my head, watching as he walked around the console, "What were you saying?"
"I was telling you about the time I- oh, forget it," he waved me off.
I sighed, leaning back into the only seat in the room, "Okay then."
He gave me a look, "Are you okay? You don't look okay."
"Thanks."
"You're welcome."
I glared at him, making him smile.
"No, but really, what's wrong? You seem upset. Has something happened?"
"No," I muttered, "Nothing's wrong."
"Then what is it?"
I looked down, "I miss my family..."
"Do you, now?" he stepped closer and sat beside me, making me look up at him.
"I know that's daft," I said quickly, "I could see them anytime I want...I'm just worried as to what they'll say about this whole travelling with an alien thing, you know? Nothing against you, it's just not something that happens everyday. Plus...I feel like an idiot. Missing something I can easily go back too..."
"There's nothing wrong with that," he assured after a moment of silence, "You're only human."
"Yeah..." I sighed, feeling him squeeze my hand.
"Now, come on! Cheer up! Where would you like to go?"
A smile crept onto my lips, "Somewhere amazing!"
"Somewhere amazing? I'll give you somewhere amazing," he stood up and I watched as he piloted the TARDIS, casually pulling on levers and twisting cranks. When the blue box landed, I nearly fell out of the captain's seat, but I somehow managed to hang on to it. Before I could even ask where we were, the Doctor grabbed my hand and pulled me out the doors, onto a beautiful planet.
"Where are we?" I breathed, looking up at the colourful stars that were scattered along the black sky.
"It's called New Earth," he informed happily as he lead me up the nearest hill.
I managed to tear my gaze from the sky so I could look at him, "This is amazing...New Earth? Really?"
"Yup," he nodded, "It's a pretty great place. Would you like to explore it?"
"I'd love to!" I beamed.
He took my hand and pulled me towards the city, which was buzzing with life. Humans and aliens were walking about on the crowded streets, and I couldn't stop smiling. This place was amazing! Vendors were lined along the buildings, offering all sorts of things, from hats to flowers to jewelry.
"Is...is that a cat person?" I murmured, seeing the alien walk across the street in front of us.
"Yup," he nodded, looking down at me, "They're harmless."
I smiled softly, "I love this place. We should come here more often."
"I agree," he grinned, "I quite like the atmosphere."
"Very...Earth-like," I looked up at him.
"Still feel homesick?" he asked.
"Not in the slightest," I shook my head, looping my arm through his, "Thank you, Doctor...This means a lot."
"Don't worry about it," he smiled as I leaned my arm against his shoulder.
I chuckled, "So, tell me Doctor, do you have any places you plan on taking me?"
"I have a whole universe full of places I plan on taking you!" he informed.
"That'll take ages."
"We've got all the time we need."
"Yeah?"
"I am a Time Lord, [Y/N]."
"With a raggedy old TARDIS," I added.
"Oi! Don't knock the TARDIS!"
"Just saying!" I laughed.
He rolled his eyes, but smiled nonetheless.
"We make a rather unique pair, Doctor."
"Yes we do. Wouldn't have it any other way."
I blushed and looked down at my shoes as he lead me through the crowds of people, taking me god knows where. Not that I minded. He made things better, and hopefully, I can return the favor for him one day.
