Imagine: Trying to comfort the Doctor after he lost Rose, only for him to surprise you.

It's been a week. Or, at least I think it's been a week. I can't remember. It's all been one big emotional blur. The Doctor hardly spoke and the TARDIS didn't hum quite as loudly as she did before. When the Doctor was upset, so was she. Ever since we helped Donna Noble escape the Racnoss, the grieving Time Lord has done nothing but mess with the TARDIS console or sulk in the library. I hated seeing him like this.

And it was all over Rose Tyler. Defender of the Earth. They were close, I knew that, but I never expected this. It was all so sudden...so unexpected. My heart broke for the Doctor. I didn't really get to know the blonde. I'm sure she was an amazing person. I mean, she had to be, if she left the Doctor in such an distraught state. I didn't know what to do for him, but I had to do something. What sort of a friend would I be?

I made my way down the dimly lit corridor of the TARDIS, towards the console room. I was almost certain the Doctor would be in there. He almost always was.

"Doctor?" my voice nearly echoed through the quiet room as I entered, "Are you in here?"

"Yeah," he faintly replied.

"Can I talk to you?" I asked gently, walking over to where he was laying under the controls of his beloved ship.

It took him a few moments to actually stand up. I didn't think he really wanted to talk at the moment, but he got up anyway. It's a start.

"What's on your mind, [Y/N]?" he questioned as he flipped a few switches.

"I um..." I bit my lip, "I'm sorry. About Rose-"

"Not your fault," he interrupted, his voice as soft as it could be without it being a whisper.

"Maybe not," I sighed, "But I don't particularly enjoy seeing you like this. It upsets me. Please...just let me take a bit of the blame. It wasn't even your fault, you know. She saved the whole of the Earth. She's even with her family now, with Mickey. That's worth being happy about, right? It could have been worse."

He looked down at his worn trainers, "I suppose it could have been..."

"The two of you had wonderful adventures," I continued, resting a hand over his, "You saved so many lives, so many civilizations. You and Rose had the best of times together, but all good things must eventually come to an end, Doctor. Or else, they'd never get started."

He stayed silent.

"I didn't know her properly, but I do know that she wouldn't want this. She'd want you to go and save the universe again," I smiled softly, feeling him lace our fingers together, "So, what do you say, Time boy? Let's go save the world. For Rose."

He looked up, and I got a proper look at him for the first time in days. His eyes were glazed over with tears, and I gave him a sad smile. He gave me the best smile he could possibly give at that moment before leaning forward and placing a soft kiss to my lips. It wasn't long, but was most definitely sweet. My heart fluttered as my cheeks warmed up. He just kissed me...The Doctor kissed me!

"Thank you, [Y/N]," he squeezed my hand softly before dropping it and walking around the console.

I looked around the room, and noticed that it was light up a bit more, and the TARDIS had grew in sound.

"I..." my blush returned, "Uh, anytime, Doctor. Fancy saving a few lives?"

His smile had widened as he looked at me from across the humming console, "Allons-y!"

A/N: I hope it's good! :)
