Till The Day I.... Die

3 weeks later

Sun had noticed that I was slowly growing distant and he finally decided to talk to me about it.
"Sunshine are you ok? You haven't been talking to us much lately." Sun said walking over to me.
"It's just that... I've been thinking lately." I said.
"About?"
"Can you get Moon?"
"Sure..?" He got up and went to get Moon.
When Sun came over with Moon I could tell they were worried.
"Ok can you tell us now?" Sun asked.
I nodded. "I've just been thinking... When I get old will you guys still love me?"
"Of course Sunshine! We'll love you no matter what!" Sun said.
"Yeah it doesn't matter to us how old you get, it's still you." Moon agreed.
"Was that it?" Sun asked.
I shake my head.
"Ok, what is it Starlight?" Moon asked.
"It's just that I'll die... And then... We'll never see each other again." I was staring at the ground.
Sun and Moon were silent.
"I'll die and you guys will keep running. And even if you break down, you don't have an actual spirit like humans and animals do. You'll never go to heaven or hell.... We'll... Be separated forever." I fought back tears.
"I never thought of it like that." Moon said, "I um..."
Sun was looking down and it was clear that this was hard for him to hear.
I stayed silent.
"So... What... What does this m-mean?" Sun asked.
"I dunno..." I was surprised that my words came out more as a whisper.
Sun was desperate to just say that we shouldn't worry about it and it will be fine, but he knew this was a real problem and he couldn't just push it away.
"That's... Hard to think about.." Moon said. "I mean, you dieing and never seeing you again."
"I know..." I said, letting a single tear drop.
"But there's no way to prevent it unless..." Moon trailed off.
"Unless what?" I asked looking up. Sun was staring at him too.
"Unless you were turned into an animatronic... But.." Moon was thinking hard.
"I don't think that's gonna happen... I guess.. we'll just have to enjoy each other for this life time.." I said.
"Sunshine that's- so sad!" Sun hugged me tightly. "I hate the thought of losing you!"
I hugged him tightly, allowing myself to cry finally.
Moon hung back. He didn't want to get emotional in front of Sun but it was getting hard not to.
I looked at him, but he looked away. I took his hand and he looked back at me. Then he let me pull him into the hug.
"I'll love you guys till the day I do die, and beyond." I said.
"Maybe you could visit us in ghost form?" Sun asked desperately trying to lighten the mood.
"I Mean I could try." I said with a small smile.
"I know this is a real thing to think about, but you're only 12. You have so many more years. Can we not think about this yet? It's so sad." Sun said.
"Ok.. It's not gonna stop me from thinking about it though." I said.
"We're hear for you Starlight.. if you need to talk about more.. I'm hear." Moon said. He knew it was too hard for Sun to handle, but he knew he could handle it more, and Sun knew that too.
"Thanks Moon. I will."
He smiled, and then I clung to them more before we had to get ready for the kids.
