"There are worse things than feeling alone. Things like being with someone and still feeling alone."— M.W Poetry
THE WOMAN PACED in the bathroom of her home as she called and called her husband for what felt like the hundredth time.
Amelia sighed as the call dropped the automatic voicemail beeping, "please leave your message-"
She groaned again. He would have called her if he had a case, which meant he was at the office.
She looked down at the counter at the test.
Negative.
Amelia sighed in disappointment. Keeping her tears at bay. She discarded the test in the trash as her phone began to ring. She picked it up quickly answering.
"Hello?" Came from the other side.
It was him.
"Hello?" She spoke back to him.
"Sorry honey, I was in a meeting."
"I figured." She sighed. "How's work going, are you coming home tonight?" She asked both questions.
A pause came from over the phone before he sighed. "We have a case."
Amelia knew what that meant, he would be leaving for a few days. "Okay." She muttered into the phone covering up her disappointment.
"Honey-"
"It's okay Aaron I understand. Stay safe okay? I love you."
"I love you too."
Amelia paused before she spoke up. "Oh and Aaron?" A small hum came from the other side.
"The test, it was negative." She didn't give him any time to respond before she hung up the phone.
Tears began escaping her eyes as she wiped them away quickly.
She let out a deep breath before she headed to the closet. Picking out a pair of scrubs.
When she finished getting dressed she pulled her hair back into a ponytail. Quickly grabbing her purse as she stepped out of the bedroom.
Her eyes avoided the walls of the hallway, pictures of her and her husband on their wedding day, pictures of when it was easier.
