"In solitude the mind gains strength and learns to lean upon itself." – Laurence Sterne
THE HUSBAND AND WIFE were currently at the doctors office.
It had taken a while but after an hour of getting the team started on paperwork Aaron was able to make it to their appointment, joining his wife who had been waiting for her name to be called for around thirty minutes.
"I'm so excited." Amelia said to him her head was leaned on his shoulder as she went over the scenarios. "Me too honey." He couldn't wait to start a family with his wife, he just wished it was easier than what they were going through now.
"Hotchner?" At their last name the husband and wife's head shot up to look at the nurse that was ready to take them in. Aaron got up grabbing Amelia's hand as they followed the nurse into their room.
Amelia laced their fingers as nerves got the better of her. Aaron squeezed her hand in reassurance trying to calm her nerves.
"The doctor will be with you shortly." The nurse said courtly leaving them alone in the room. Amelia sat on the examination couch whilst Aaron opted for the chair in front of her.
"So how much hell did you get for being here?" Amelia asked Aaron lightly. He smiled at his wife. "Not too much, I'm the boss so I just made it a paperwork day. We don't have a case and I'm trying to put my family first."
Amelia smiled. "I know this is hard honey but I'm trying."
Amelia went to speak before the doctor walked in and a familiar face. "Welcome, Mrs. Hotchner." The doctor reached out and shook Amelia's hand before turning towards Aaron who got up shaking his hand.
"Amelia?" Ethan said as Amelia said. "Ethan?"
"I'm Dr. Brown and this is my intern, Ethan Shepherd. But by the looks of it you guys already know each other?" She smiled and looked behind her to Ethan who looked out of place and uncomfortable.
He gave a small and awkward wave towards the two.
"We're familiar." Amelia said courtly. Aaron looked between her and Ethan wondering why he never heard any mention of him.
"Well great. I'm sure you're aware on how this works, Dr. Hotchner?" Dr. Brown said turning to her with a smile.
"Very, but Amelia is fine. No need to for formality."
