Everyone agrees with Sam's plan.
*But how did you come up with something so effective this fast?* Jane is astonished.
*What do you mean? I was gone for days! Sorry, Jin, I took my time, sat there, and watched everything peacefully. I had to learn some new abilities too. You have awesome skills! I had to tap into your feelings and find the best solution. You were a great help because you have been making your own plan ever since he visited you. It's hard to see an old friend you grieved over come back and betray you. Anyways, his being here is a problem for me, and I want him out. I think it's time to start putting myself first, above others, and I'm going to start by getting rid of him. His existence challenges my future, and I can't have that! We've got to call out Lucius and John. There is work to do. As for you, Jin, you will have to wait a little longer. I heard the higher-ups talk about the day you guys will be released, and that's gonna be real' soon! That's why I have planned out everything so that you will be able to join in late. Just in case we can't beat him alone.*
*Are we going to ignore the fact that you were gone for a minute and claim it was days?* Jin asks.
Sam shrugs his shouders.
Jane stands in front of Sam and tells everyone that his plan is final.
They walk out and leave Jin and his friends behind. Jin doesn't bother arguing about anything, as he has seen and understood Sam's will. *That dude is no joke!* He thinks.
Blu, of course, doesn't miss the opportunity to train with his cousin and Jane. They train every morning before leaving for studies and every evening, leaving behind any close relatives and friends.
After the first week, Lucius accepts Blu's invitation to train together. John, as well, finds out about their plan and decides to become stronger with them.
*Becoming stronger in just a month—that's the dream!*
Jane has been doing her best to keep up with the boys. Her suit has been upgraded with new and improved layers. Each outer layer is up to a hundred times stronger than the previous and more powerful when combined. Sam senses more abnormalities in her than before. Her body is adapting to her new life.
*Jane, I think you are manifesting some kind of inhumanity. Your energy flow has changed, and it is roaming around freely. It has taken on the color blue. Beautiful, quiet, and free, just like the sky on a bright day. I think we should soon start working on putting it to use. I need to think about the "How."*
Lucius has forgiven Sam for being the Jazz he hates. He finds the confidence to ask him about his weakness. *Yo Sam, you see... I can manifest flames, but somehow I keep burning myself when I use them, so I haven't been using them for a while now. Do you think there is something that could be done to make it work?*
Sam is happy to hear Lucius open up to him. He smiles and tells him that *there is an easy fix for this.* It isn't that much of a problem for him to figure it out. While testing out his theories, Sam discovers another ability of his: summoning flames. Though his flames are quite different, each time he summons them without focus, they appear as white, blue flames.
John tells everyone that he has an old friend who might have given him the answer to Lucius' problem(s). Sam asks, *Did your friend, by any chance, say something about his energy flow not being put to use?*
*Yes, he even had a name for it. Let me think... Was it something about Tomi? Tomo? Tome? No, what was it again?* He tries to recall the name he has forgotten.
Sam fills in and asks, *Tomei?*
*Yes!* John shouts. *He said it is written differently than spoken. It is written T-o-m-e-i.*
*I never knew how it was written. I thought it was exactly how you pronounce it. Something like, *Tobb-e-a-n. Cool, now I have learned something new. Your friend, though, must be very wise to know something like that. He must be like us and really old.*
John answers without hesitating, *Yes! But I don't quite know what he can do. He always knows what I want and need before I even bother to ask. He might be something like a mind-reader or something. Also, he can create a sphere and freeze anything within it. He says that all his abilities are limited to some extent. Like distance and space-stuff. I don't know, he talks a lot! He tells stories, too. He knows almost everything.*
Lucius has been listening to their conversation and hates being left out. *Hey, hey, what about filling me in and helping me? Stop making it all about yourselves!*
They explain to him that he has to let out his Tomei. Like electricity flowing through a device, he has to make his Tomei flow outside his body to cover his skin. The flames are manifested as his ability to create through magic. Manifesting flames means to ignite them through magic, and the skin is „allergic" to them. He has to willingly make his energy flow circularly and exit exactly where he wants to ignite. He is to imagine himself being lighter. First, he lets his energy flow out like gas and then ignites it to sustain it. The outflow of Tomei is magic. It is the burning gas, as well as oxygen. It holds every element needed for a specific skill, but not every existing element.
Theoretically, every supernatural being can create, for example, flames. Depending on how it is created, one either loses his energy or is able to sustain his flames longer. An elemental magician, here: a fire magician, can easily summon flames without using Tomei. He sustains his flames by pushing through a little amount of Tomei to keep them "alive." The more he summons, the greater the flame. By summoning a large amount of flame and compressing it, the flame changes color and intensity. It can become blue and burn hot in a beam or on a single strip as a laser. A magician who isn't of the fire element will have to create flames. First, one lets the required amount of Tomei flow out of the body before creating the flames. Here, the speed can vary, depending on how skilled the magician is. The flames created do not hurt the user while he holds them. The user is naturally coated at the exact spot where the flames appear. Summoning is of outer nature (out of thin air), and creating is of inner nature (Tomei manipulation).
The main difference between creating and summoning is that the creator loses his Tomei quicker than the summoner.*This again!?* Sam keeps hearing a voice in his head.
*You have to train your energy flow in such a way that you use less than you refill in a period. That's how I manage mine, though I have more than enough. Tomei is powerful; it can sustain strong spells or abilities with just a small amount. It's all about practice. Do you think you can do it?*
Everyone takes on Sam's advice and works on the inner and outer energy flow.
After a month, they are able to control their Tomei—not as good as Sam wishes, but enough to hold onto their strongest abilities for ten minutes.
*Guys, the day has come! I have bought some clothes for you. All you have to do is let your Tomei flow through them so they aren't completely destroyed in battle by your abilities. Everyone, suit up! It's time to go and beat some Morphius-ass!*
*Okaaayy, let's go!* Jane screams. Everyone is surprised.
*Yo, somehow you are becoming as weird as Sam!* Blu adds.
Everyone laughs.
Chapter 37, end.
