********************

Silvester and Morphius have been exploring the unknown country on the west side of Africa for two weeks now.

Jin is still sleeping in peace.

*Weird. How can someone sleep that long? Is it normal tho? Ey yo, Morphius, what do you think?*

Not even Morphius can answer Silvester’s question.

*Perhaps Jin has gotten into some kind of godly sleep.*

There are stories about how gods don’t reply to mankind because of the long sleep they catch themselves in. Though these are long naps, they are about hundreds and thousands of years long. Of course, people just assume they are sleeping because they all believe that the gods are never going to let them down when they are wide awake.

Silvester kicks Jin every time he walks by; there is no reaction.

Another week has passed; nothing!

After an entire month, Silvester and Mophius give up.

*Well, Morphius, it seems like he is not waking up any time soon. Let’s just explore whatever there is here until he wakes up.*

They leave Jin lying against the tree with his weapons on his right-hand side. They travel around trying to find „the country borders," as Silvester has been talking about.

In this time period, these countries aren't called as they are in the present, making it hard to navigate properly.

They have fun at every single location and take care of the people and their traditions. They spread the name of the Monkey King, making him and them very popular throughout every religious belief.

Half a year has already passed, and Jin is still sleeping. Silvester and Morphius are back. They lay down to rest with their leader.

After an hour...

They sense a strange aura coming near. After a short period, it is much closer to their surroundings, but they still don't see anyone.

*It feels like we’re being watched; do you feel that, Morphius?*

Morphius has also realized something weird about his stare.

Silvester jumps high to the very top of the tallest tree he has found. He looks around and still sees no one, not even from the highest point in the woods.

*Weird, so this person or thing—wait, of course! No one said such a strong presence should be from a person, a big person.
But there are so many animals and insects here. It is impossible to find out which one has such a strong presence.*

Morphius steps up to Jin, just to feel more confident. He wants something to brag about if he can save him from whatever is coming.

Slowly, a spider starts dropping down from its web. It drops to the height of Morphius‘ eyes and stays there. Swinging slowly from right to left, it builds up enough momentum to jump in Jin’s direction. Morphius notices the spider and hits it hard.

*Ouch!* He holds onto his wrist after hitting the suspicious spider. It falls to the ground and shouts, *young man, you dey injure an innocent spider! Don some heart now! You no go apologize?*

Silvester hears the second voice besides Morphius' and rushes down to find out who it is, just to be shocked by it being a spider.

The spider creature gets bigger. There is an unfamiliar aura flowing, which becomes stronger and more intense.

Jin is pulled out of his sleep. He slowly opens his eyes, shuts them, and opens them once more at a faster rate.

*What the hell is going on out here? Can’t a young, sleepy man sleep in peace? Just kiddiiiiing. I was awake; I never really fell asleep, I think?* He puts a wide smile on his face.

*ahhhhhh!!!* He screams and continues, *Wait, what the...? Should a spider be this b-b-biig?* He stretches his arms wide open to show the type of *big* he is talking about.

The spider lets out a little giggle.

*Ooohhhhhh, so you're awake, young man. Ya presence now be a powerful one, a no go lai! Who be you?*

Jin points a finger towards the spider and says, *Waaaiit a minute. A spider, almost as big as myself, talking, laughing, and not stupid.* He rubs his chin for a while and continues, *I think I may have heard stories about you. You are the trickster, spider, insect, storytelling god, or something like that!*

He pauses for seconds...

*You are Anansi! Man, we really are on the west side of Continent C.*

He coughs twice.

*I mean in West Africa.
Is this the country that will later on be called Ghana, the Gold Coast? As far as I know, the Akans must be here somewhere!*

The spider transforms into a handsome, young, dark-skinned man with dark, gray hair and, within those, pure white strips within his dreads. He is shocked but laughs loudly, just as Jin always does. His laughter is like a sickness that spreads among the three men, making them burst out in laughter.

*Ah you sabi who i am? be honest I lai lai think pesin would find komot who I am, or at least no bi as quick as you guys juss do.  Make you juss say sontin wey concern mai tori being told and somewhere dem dey call ghana „later on“.  U dey say mai pipo are finally going to won themselves a name? you de from di future, aren’t you?*

Jin, Silvester, and Morphius' eyes widen more. Jin asks the man how he knows about their heritage.

*Wella i am no bi mugu you sabi? I am di trickster god and mai pipo are di akans.  Dem no get name for themselves yet.  I juss get reborn no bi too long tey.  You fit tok i na born right afta ares kpai.  Im locked me away afta I lost di fight, you fit tok I na half dead.  Make me tink – technically, I am eleven times eleven years old.  Also, I haven't a name yet, I get been thinking wey concern new and perfect name for masef.  For mai past life, pipo only dem dey call me di spider-god but I tink I am going to take di name make you juss find me.  From dis day onwards I go de sabi as anansi.  Yes! anansi di trickster god.  Thank you very boku broda.  Anansi! supremacy!*

Anansi and Jin understand each other and become best friends—the best of the best. This friendship has the royalty and loyalty a friendship should have.

The four men travel around the world and spread their stories. They defeat gods after gods who stand in their way of finding freedom. They party, they fight, they get stronger, and they sleep a lot throughout the years they keep on jumping into.
Centuries after centuries, their stories end with, "They will come back one day and check on us, our dear gods!"
Their promise to make everyone free is fulfilled until the last day they are seen together, the day they fight against furious gods who aren’t willing to let mankind live freely.

Chapter 17, end.
