"Unfortunately," Jennie 's cheeks turned slightly red. "I don't even know your name."
"Lisa," the blonde said with a smile. "Lisa Manobal."
"Lisa," Jennie repeated, as if tasting the name. "I'm very glad to meet you, Lisa.
"Wow!" Lisa burst out laughing. "Nobody ever said <very glad>. Usually they just say <pleasant, glad>, but very glad. This is something new. Let me guess, did you graduate from something unusual, Harvard or SNU?"
Lisa couldn't stop smiling at Jennie 's surprised face. Then the girl reached into her backpack and took out thick glasses with black frames. Having put them on, Lisa picked up the menu. "This will be an interesting lunch," the girl thought and looked at the brunette, who was still looking at her.
Jennie was a little taken aback by Lisa Manobal's statement. She didn't know how to react. From the first minute they met, Jennie concluded that the blonde was stupid, a little rude, straightforward and definitely honest. Jennie couldn't understand whether she liked the girl or not, she just didn't know how to behave with such people and this made her very nervous. Jennie felt out of place with people like Lisa Manobal. She was raised to act and speak in a certain way, following a pattern of social rules and norms. Sometimes this was not easy for the girl, but nevertheless, she never allowed herself to relax and deviate from the norms of decency, even with Chu, who was her closest friend. She always spoke correctly, politely to all people, with her characteristic good manners. She never even slouched.
"Yes, that's right," Jennie finally answered. "I received an MBA from Harvard Business College."
"I thought so," said Lisa, chuckling to herself. Lisa herself, of course, was not a top-class person for whom Lisa worked (and hoped that she would still work). During her first years at university, she worked in a cafe, worked part-time at various events, and babysat children from rich and poor families. So, she is used to the fact that for the first five minutes people from rich families sit in surprise; they need to get used to the speech of such simple <ordinary> people like Lisa. But then they either liked Lisa, or they started laughing at her, or they immediately decided not to hire her.
Anyway.
" What do they cook well here, Jennie ?" asked Lisa. "This is fine?
" Sorry?" Jennie asked, shaking her head. "What's normal?"
"That I call you Jennie ," Lisa answered with a smile. "I can call you Mrs. Kim whatever you want."
"Actually Miss Kim," Jennie corrected her. " I'm not married, but there's no need for such formalities. You can call me Jennie ."
"Amazing!" Lisa exclaimed and returned to studying the menu again. "So they cook well here, Jennie?"
Jennie couldn't help but smile. She couldn't understand why, being out of her element with Lisa, for some reason she felt comfortable next to the girl. The blonde was so sincere and confident that every minute Jennie herself behaved more at ease with Lisa.
"Well, I almost always order a salad or something with chicken," Jennie answered a little timidly.
"Okay," said Lisa, shrugging her shoulders. "Let's place an order then." She raised her hand up, attracting the waiter's attention.
After a couple of seconds, the young man walked up to their table, holding a notepad and pen at the ready.
"Have you decided, ladies?"
"Yes," answered Lisa, biting her lip. She pointed at Jennie and said. "The girl is ready to place an order, and I will do the same, plus water with three lemons."
