Sam was very picky about the assortment in every store they went to. He wanted square disposable plates for his party, not round ones, and he wanted them made of hard plastic, not any other softer material. The boy tested the durability of the plates with his own hands, bending them. He also wanted napkins with dinosaurs, and a tablecloth to match these napkins, and one of the dinosaurs must be a Rex. He also wanted streamers and doodles. But the bells had to sound in a certain key. Sam checked this tone himself, much to the displeasure of the other customers.
The boy also wanted a trampoline, and when Jennie tried to explain that none of the rooms in their house could accommodate a trampoline, Sam immediately decided that they would celebrate the holiday not at home, as they had planned earlier, but in the park, where they could safely place the trampoline. Seo Yeong immediately called someone on her cell phone, fulfilling her grandson's wish.
Sam also wanted a dinosaur pinata. There were three of them in the store.
"Honey, three pinatas are too many," Jennie tried to convince her son.
"Three will be just fine, darling. You can never have too many pinyatas!" Seo Yeong tried to outshout her daughter. Of course, Grandma won on this issue, too."
Sam also wanted balloons, but not just any balloons, but special ones too.
"Green balls, mommy!" the boy bounced excitedly in his mother's arms. The adults walked from rack to rack, alternating the honorable role of <riders>. The boy could suddenly break out of his arms and jump on the neck of a nearby relative. Once he caught Lisa by surprise with such a trick, but the blonde managed to catch the child literally at the last moment.
"These?" Jennie asked, pointing to the nearest bright green balls, which Lisa would rather call <grass>.
"They remind me of the park," the blonde said, and Jennie smiled, remembering the day she and Sam had accidentally met her then nanny in the park.
"Me too," the brunette smiled, running her hand gently down Lisa's back.
"No," Sam shook his head negatively. "They're too green."
"Too green?" Lisa arched an eyebrow. "There's no such thing, kid."
Sam stuck out his tongue and shook his head even more vigorously.
"Too green!" he repeated.
"What about these?" Manobal pointed with her hand at the balls of a darker shade of green.
Sam squinted for a second, then said confidently:
"Too dark!"
Lisa pointed to more sea-wave colored balloons.
"What about these?"
Too light," the little one answered quickly.
"Look at the chartreuse," Seo Yeong caught his eye, pointing to the balls, which Lisa thought were more yellow than green. Sam mentally agreed with the blonde, and they grinned simultaneously, much to the amusement of Jennie, who noticed the similarity in their facial expressions. " I take it that was an emphatic no."
"Too yellow," the boy explained, and Lisa nodded in agreement.
"How about this one, kitten?" ennie asked, pointing to the teal-colored balls. "Very pretty."
Sam sighed heavily. Lisa watched him in amazement. Such a small child sometimes acted like a real adult. And now he reminded her of his mother, almost an exact replica.
"Too blue!" muttered the little boy.
"Too blue indeed," Manobal agreed, for which she received a small smack from Jennie .
