"Wow, you look terrible!"
Jennie rolled her eyes and exhaled in annoyance. Having seated Sam in a high chair at the restaurant table, the brunette sank into the chair opposite Jisoo.
"Sometimes I have to remind myself that I love you," she said hoarsely.
Jisoo grinned and kissed Sam's chubby cheek. The blonde placed a coloring book and crayons on the table in front of the boy.
" Thank you!" the child exclaimed happily, grabbing the blonde's finger with one hand. With his other hand, the boy took a green chalk and began to draw something meaningless on the paper.
"You're welcome, baby," the girl cooed before carefully removing her index finger from his hand. She then turned to her friend, who was carefully studying the menu.
"So, would you like to tell me about the wild party last night and the hangover this morning?"
"I wasn't at any wild party."
"Of course I wasn't," Jisoo teased cheerfully. "Means..."
Jennie bent over the menu even more, but the blonde managed to notice a slight blush on her friend's cheeks.
"I returned home a little later than planned," the brunette said quietly.
"A little later?"
Kim ignored the provocative question and continued as if nothing had happened:
"And then, as usual, my mother called at 6 o'clock in the morning and passed the phone to Sam, who shouted loudly right in my ear, "Mommy! I'm already awake. Where are you?"
At the mention of his name, the boy laughed cheerfully, causing a sea of affection among the women. He seemed very pleased to have woken his mother up so early. The kid always did this when he spent the night with his grandparents. Waking up early in the morning, Sam always expected that his mother had already come for him.
"Let's go back to <a little later>," Jisoo was not going to back down. "Where have you been, Jennie?"
Squaring her shoulders, but still not taking her eyes off the menu, the brunette answered casually:
"I was with Lisa."
" Lisa!" Sam exclaimed joyfully upon hearing another familiar name.
"Lisa you mean?" Jisoo clarified, grinning.
"Yes, Jisoo," Kim snapped. "Lisa, nanny. What's wrong with that? You yourself insisted that I take her backpack."
"Insisted. But handing over the backpack is a matter of five minutes," the blonde chuckled.
"AND?" Jennie asked arrogantly. "Can't I try to be friends with her?"
"Well, I just don't know why you need new friends if you already have one amazing friend – me," Jennie couldn't help but smile after such a statement from her friend. "But yes, I guess you still have the right to make new friends."
Jisoo deliberately emphasized the word "friends," because she, more than anyone else, understood that the relationship between Jennie and Lisa was very difficult to call friendship. Although they themselves, of course, did not yet understand this, which, however, did not surprise the blonde at all. At that moment, the waiter approached their table, and the girl had to break away from her thoughts for a while. Having received the order, the waiter disappeared as quietly as he had appeared. Jennie leaned into the large bag she always took with her on walks with Sam and pulled out a carton of apple juice. Inserting a straw into it, she handed the juice to her son.
"Hold it, kitten."
"Is this apple?" the boy clarified, reaching for the juice.
"Of course," his mother told him with a smile. Then she pointed with her other hand to a picture on the packet, which showed a beautiful ripe fruit. "Do you see the picture?"
