Just at the instant Harbor was sure they would break the water's surface, the bungee cord pulled both of them back. Harbor could hear Jess's laughter.
Back on top of the bridge, Jess hugged Harbor.
"I am so glad I remembered to glue my teeth in," she said. "You know it's taken me months to sand my back plate down enough to get to be a perfect fit."
Harbor was laughing, too.
"You really are something, old girl," he said. "And I'm so glad you're my soulmate."
"Till death," Jess said. "And don't get any ideas. I got a million more plans before they plant us, Harbor."
